"Save it, Shinigami." She growled in parched, exhausted breaths as Maria dropped down beside her.

It was deeply shameful to be running towards her people's enemy, but a greater menace was on all sides. She hoped the General would be understanding in her after action report. She had a feeling that her conduct did not reflect well on the Quincies.

Then again, it was a bit premature to be worrying about that right now. She had to survive to see it.

Diving for cover, she landed behind a battered, burnt out car-wreck just in time, as a wave of scorching black-fire engulfed the street. Even so, the flickering flames singed and scorched her further.

"I. hate. being set on fire!" she yelled in furious agony, her eyes blazing. She was past fear and terror now. Past calm and methodical. She was down-right pissed.

As she rose from behind the burnt chassis of a Hyundai- briefly she wondered if her own car was a smoking wreck out there somewhere- a tall, tanned Shinigami ran past her, tossing something green at her.

Her instinct had been to dodge, but his words reversed her instinct, and she found herself jerking back into his attack despite her instincts.

It was just as well, she badly needed reiatsu healing, even if it came from a Shinigami's filthy Kido, and not pure Quincy magic.

"I'll thank you by not killing you when all the Sinners are dead." She called out, but he'd already sped past to engage another Sinner, the one with the Bow who had sniped at hear earlier.

Great timing. Seeing he had the matter in hand, she turned her gaze back to the big ones, who had drawn her attention on the roofs. It was hard to see them through the chaos, but she didn't need direct line of sight for this.

Closing her eyes, she pictured their location, relying on her enhanced senses to detect their dark signatures.

"Der Himmel leite meinen Zorn."

Raising her bow-stave, she felt the air, smoky and acrid with flames, rapidly chill. Channelling her icy fury, she drew back an arcing shot, an icy Soegeki bolt that would explode and shower the target with powerful ice magic, in the hope of crippling them.

She loosed, her magical mortar shrieking through the air. 

Then, she got serious.

Screaming her anger, her eyes blazing with blue light, she gave them it all.

"BLUT UND EISEN! DURCH GOTES WILLEN! DAS GEWEIHT KANNONADE!"[/color]

Her bow-stave shuddered and shook in her hands, and the ghostly aura of a spectral cannon formed around her, its barrel raised and silhouetting her gathering might.

Her shouting and loosing was drawing more sinners to her location, and she wouldn't have time for another barrage before they were on her.

But she didn't care.

She loosed, and, mere seconds after her Soegeki mortar had burst over where Meiji was, her Kannonade followed, thunderous howitzer shells that eclipsed her previous cold fury with a deafening roar of reishi-enthused raw power.

The impact was bound to be something else. One thing was for sure- they'd rue the day they underestimated the Quincies.

"I damn thee back to the Hell you deserve." She spat.

She saw the other, lesser demons now charging towards her, wild-eyed and grinning.

She turned her bow-stave, and prepared to fight them hand-to-hand, using her stave as a pole-arm.

Faced with a wall of pitch black flame, Tensai leapt to the side, Eisa cowered behind cover and was left only mildly scathed, and Maria stood her ground, raising her Zanpakuto and cleaving through the attack as if she was pushing through a wave at sea. It burned, and hard, but she powered herself through with the spirit of a real Eleventh Division Shinigami - and as soon as the attack faded, she left the two Sinners surprised.

"Heheh... I'm made of tougher stuff than you think," Maria muttered, raising her blade, and suddenly charging forward, straight into a ferocious melee with Meiji. Just in time, Tensai began yelling at the two Sinner leaders as well - this time to draw attention at their plan and trying to explain that raising a ruckus in Osaka was completely nonsensical. While Meiji was busy warding off Maria, Showa pushed his arms into the pockets of the black cloth, seeminly completely unphased.

"If you are so much of a simpleton that you believe our goal could only be to escape to the Mortal World, then it's you who is being counter-productive. There is something above mere Shinigami or Quincy that is taking place..."

Tensai's call-out was, of course, a distraction, and Showa suddenly turned around to face the Shinigami when he appeared behind the two Sinners with purified Salt at hand - the blow which was meant for the hellish inhabitant's back clocked him in the head, but was painful nonetheless. Grimacing, but keeping his cool, Showa closed in his distance, covering Meiji and taking Tensai's second attack as well - even more powerful than the first, and one which left the Sinner struggling to stay upright in the end.

Finally pushing past Maria's Zanpakuto with a powerful armored backhand, Meiji was about to lay the finishing blow, only to get struck by an ice projectile straight into his shoulder. The Sinner staggered back, grunting in pain, almost half of his body now covered in frost and icicle, and his one eye not covered by his mask staring deadshot at Eisa. The Quincy was not even finished, transforming her bow into heavy ordinance artillery and laying fire upon the battlefield. Instead of striking the Sinner leader, however, it faced a wall of minions suddenly arising from the Earth at command, taking the attacks like a wall of flesh and nullifying the barrage with their mass. A cloud of ash and smoke covered the battlefield, but both of the leading Sinners were left unscathed.

"This is getting annoying..." Meiji grumbled under his breath, sending a powerful kick to the unsuspecting Maria and blowing her aside, before raising his arm forward. The hordes of Sinners, following his mental command, suddenly hastened their pace and gathered together, charging at Eisa and Tensai, aiming to overpower both of them with sheer manpower.

The duel a little further from the scene was left out of the stampede - and as soon as the blades of Taisho and Yoshinori clashed against one another, the Sinner huntsman struck a different expression, as hard as it was to tell over the mask on his face. A content one, full of confidence.

"Now this is the type of warrior I wanted to see in the world of the living..!" he muttered under his breath. Maybe a little foolish, but with enough pride and confidence to take on him head-on. Someone against whom Taisho could use the full extent of his arsenal, not just snipe them from a distance.

After a small push forward, Taisho stepped back, slashing against the air once more to summon flying slashes of pure Reishi, all aimed at the Shinigami.

Keep aware of your environment. Never be caught off guard.

Never assume your victory. Fight assuming you'll fail. Fight assuming you'll die. Fight assuming that loss is guaranteed. Then work from there.

Everything is a symbol. Every movement has an intention. Never assume carelessness in your opponent.

These three rules rang around in Yoshinori's mind like a repeating mantra as he twirled in a deadly dance with Taisho, fully intent on robbing the enemy of a ranged advantage at the expense of leaving the other Sinners up to Eisa, Tensai and Maria. Following Yoshinori's statement, made primarily in jest, the Onmitsukidō assassin fell quiet, his eyes mere slits as his face became slack. One of pure seriousness. This was a battle. Nothing to be enjoyed, nothing to take lightly. This was an opponent to which there were many layers that Yoshinori knew nothing about. Dropping his guard for even a single moment meant death.

He could never allow himself to give into overconfidence. Even for a second.

As Taisho pushed back against Yoshinori, the Shinigami acquiesced to the non-verbal command, falling back as the Sinner executed his next attack in the form of blades of pure Reishi. Hurtling towards him, Yoshinori's form flickered once more before vanishing, the Shinigami utilizing Shunpo once more to dodge the attack, flickering back into sight in front of Taisho once more, his Wakizashi held aloft.

"Hadō #11. Tsuzuri Raiden."

Suddenly, Yoshinori's Wakizashi sparked with golden light as his blade became supercharged with bright yellow electricity, his Reishi being converted into a potent electrical current as per the Hado spell. Once his sword was properly enveloped, Yoshinori slashed downward, executing a diagonal cut right shoulder to left hip with the now charged blade. Even if the man were to parry the strike, the electrical current would simply run from one metal surface to enough, running from Yoshinori's Zanpakuto to Taisho's Midnight Blade and into the man's body. If the man was simply cut with the blade...well that removed the middle man when it came said lightning, right?

Just as soon as the Shinigami appeared, he vanished immediately after the first strike, reappearing once more behind the Sinner. Wakizashi sparking to life with electricity once more, the silver haired Shinigami wasted no time, eyes riveted on his opponent as he drove the blade forward, moving to drive the electrified Wakizashi right into the man's back.

"Your life can be snuffed out in a moment. Take it seriously." Yoshinori muttered in a low tone.

"Something taking place above Shinigami and Quincy? What could be they after that's more important than escaping eternal damnation? These two know something, and so help me I will disable them to make sure they can be brought back to Soul Society in one peace. I must make sure this mission is successful, once we get the info out of them, I am sure the labs would be interested to do an autopsy and other experiments on these individuals. After all, these guys must be built to handle extreme amounts of pain and punishment due to being from Hell, and there is no law saying we can't experiment on them. If I'm lucky maybe I'll get the honor to help with the experiments myself," Tensai thought with a sinister grin.



  He was so excited by the prospect of doing such unrestrained science on such resilient subjects he didn't notice the weaker ones swarming him. Whipping at him with their chains and clawing at him. Ripping up some of his robes in the process. He has spares at least, but how dare they ruin such a perfectly fine garb. They will pay for this with their lives.

  Tensai then proceeded to channel reryoku through his knifee and does a 360 degrees rotation slash with it to swipe at the sinners in an attempt to clear the area around him. He then saw that Maria was having some trouble, but she's a resilient girl she will probably be able to make it through this. Still, though it looks like she may need his help. With all of the ones that are still left, and Meiji and Showa still a threat, Tensai needed a powerful Kido for this. Time to show Meiji the true power of Earth.

  For this to work he focused, collecting Reryoku into his left fist as he began to speak the incantation.

"The thunder catfish roars, ashes to ashes, dust to dust, become one with the earth, and claim all that walk it!" Tensai chanted.

  Tensai then prepared to punch the ground with his left fist.

"Hadō #50: Chikyū ryū no ha!" he yelled out.

  He then punched the ground as lines of Rerokyu begin to form along the ground as if they were cracks in the Earth. All of them forming underneath and near the Sinners, but nowhere near any of Tensai's fellow Shinigami or the Quincy. It was then spikes of solid rock that would burst out to skewer them, however for Meiji and Showa Tensai controlled the spell to prepare something special for them. Instead of lethally killing them if the spikes aimed for them would hit their arms and legs so they would be disabled instead of outright killed. Preventing them from escaping while also preventing them from performing any more spells and attacks.

The Demonic Attack was fast and overwhelming. She barely had time to raise her Stave before they were on her, clawed hands tearing at her uniform and her skin, bloody gouges dragged in agonisingly swift scrapes across her before she could smack them back. Leering eyes, grinning smiles, an ever-present stench of sulfur almost strong enough to make her gag.

Every single one of them Damned. Every single one of them a Hollow so terrible they were judged unworthy of God's Mercy and condemned to Hell. She could only imagine what vile deeds in life had given them such inhuman and abominable appearances in undeath.

As she bit back scream after scream, feeling them tear at her, shoving her back against a corner, blood running freely from a dozen filthy wounds, she felt a terrible, cold rage building in her.

Everything about them was a vindication of her existence.

Evil beyond saving.

Evil beyond Redemption.

Her heaven-sent purpose as a Quincy. The annihilation of that which could not be saved.

No Shinigami could gainsay her holy mission here.

As her rage boiled over, she channelled it into an aura of intimidating resolve.

Eyes blazing a blinding white-blue, She swept her Stave in front of her with an arc of crackling reiatsu energy, its mere proximity draining Reishi from the unworthy Sinners, adding a trickle to an already blazing aura around her.

"Libera me ab hostibus meis, Domine! Fugi te sperabo!

With the words of the Bible upon her lips, she raised her bow-stave like a terrible pole-arm and swept the Sinners back with the authority of her faith and power.

Once they had begun to fall back a little, she raised her stave once more, and with a swift motion, turned it length-wise, and drew forth many swift bolts of power, which she unleashed on them without hesitation or mercy.

Of the devastation around her, of the struggle of the Shinigami, she was not conscious. All that filled her now was righteous wrath, and a determination to unleash it on her foes.

With a hiss and a pained grunt, Maria lifted herself back up to her feet - the kick from Meiji had clocked her straight in the guy and sent her rolling across the street like a ragdoll, but it still wasn't enough to take her down. From her perspective, the fight looked... well, the rest of her teammates had certainly seen better days. A massive horde of Sinners have overtaken the entire area, flooding out of buildings and portals in the underground, surrounding Eisa and Tensai in order to overpower them with all of their might. Meiji and Showa were watching the charge, content with the result and getting themselves ready for a second, climactic showdown. A little bit further away, Yoshi and Taisho were in the midst of a duel. Swinging with an electrified Zanpakuto, Yoshi was on the offensive, but his powerful downwards strike was being parried.

Maria stared down the battle for a few seconds, then gripped onto her weapon more tightly and charged forward, planning to take the fight at Meiji and Showa once again - only for the Earth to rip asunder and shake, forcing her and the Sinners to turn towards the source.

"What?!" Showa yelled, moments before one of the spikes shooting out from the ground smashed into him. The entire street and the buildings surrounding it was now covered in spikes, striking Sinners at every single step and culling the horde severely by the second.

In an instant, the tides were starting to turn. Eisa refused to surrender and, recanting words from the Bible under her breath, went on a furious offensive - as little it could do to stym the side of the Sinner horde. Yoshinori vanished after his first blocked strike and drove his weapon into Taisho's back, this time successfully - the Sinner leader screamed in pain as soon as the Zanpakuto impaled him, unloading all of its electric charge at once.

Maria struck a smile and turned towards Eisa - then charged forward to slice through the Sinners which the Quincy struggled to keep at bay. She was clearly too entranced by fury and anger and Maria had no desire to get her to stop - it's not like she fought that much differently herself - so she merely flashed the Quincy a grin of recognition and went back to slashing.

Collapsing to one knee, Taisho gasped in pain and clutched onto his wound - then glared over his shoulder and spoke:

"If I still had a life to lose, you might have a point... I've completed my purpose - whether or not you kill me, I'll simply return to Hell and eventually come back..."

Out in the battle against Tensai and Eisa, however, the two Sinner leaders told a different story.

"We don't... have much time..." Showa muttered, weakly, as he pushed himself forward over several spikes, bleeding from his arms and legs. Meiji's sturdiness meant that he only sacrificed his armor, but even he was feeling the toll of battle already. "I will advise you... to go all out one last time, Meiji. Perhaps, even if... you cannot turn the battle around... it will at least buy us time."

With a solemn frown on his face, Meiji nodded, and turned towards the green-haired Shinigami. Then, he suddenly slammed his fist into the ground, with enough power to send a shockwave across the entire city district.

"THUNDER KING FIST!" he yelled at the top of his lungs and struck again, with even more built up power. The shockwave rolled over the battlefield, picking up dust, ash and Sinner bodies, ripping out the spikes summoned by Tensai's spell and sending it back at the Shinigami, and suddenly turning into a powerful tsunami of debris, consuming everything in sight.

Staring at the incoming technique, Taisho took a heavy breath and lunged for one last gambit - he gripped tightly onto his sword and turned around, aiming to slash across Yoshi's neck and decapitate the Shinigami.

The end was near.

The desperate blows of a weakened and injured man were clear to see. The distressed and venomous words hanging in the air like a dark shroud. Yet within those words was a message. A confirmation to Yoshinori, that shone amongst the venom, that confirmed to the Shinigami a truth that the man had suspected, but hadn't wanted to begin to act upon until he was sure.

"I'm glad you've reached that conclusion." Yoshinori responded, his voice monotone as he burst into action.

As Taisho whirled around to try and claim the Shinigami's head in one desperate ploy, the Sinner would find the only thing he could catch with his blade was the flickering afterimage of someone who was there mere moments ago, Yoshinori executing Shunpo once more just as the the blade came around. The shockwave of the Thunder King Fist leveled buildings in its path, and for a moment Yoshinori reappeared in midair above Taisho, crossing his arms over his chest in an X formation as his hair and clothes were blown back by the wind displacement. However, if this disoriented Yoshinori initially, it didn't last long, for the Onmitsukidō assassin soon vanished once more, appearing behind Taisho once more. Dropping into a low stance, the Shinigami executed a swift horizontal slash with his Wakizashi, the blade, if not stopped, bound to run cleanly across the back of Taisho's legs, cutting into the flesh and tendon in the back of both kneecaps.

Regardless of the result of his handiwork, Yoshinori would immediately fall back, his right weapon hand drifting to his side, with his left freehand taking point, the fingers beginning to glow with a bright yellow light as the man began to mutter an incantation, followed with a single exclamation:

"Bakudō #4. Hainawa."

The energy that had gathered in his fingertips now taking shape in the form of a crackling rope of energy, with a swing of the hand, Yoshinori would send the energized rope lashing out towards his opponent. If successful contact was made with his opponent, the energized rope would swiftly wrap around Taisho, tightening around the man and completely immobilizing him via a paralyzing electrical current.

"I figure there's no reason to ask you to surrender peacefully, so I took the liberty upon myself to give you incentive. Now, you will answer my questions." The 4th Seat Shinigami spoke once all was said and done.

"The Terror of Knowledge"

  Darn, it didn't do as well as Tensai had hoped. At least Showa is out of the picture but most of the weaker ones are still on the field and Meiji is not crippled. Well that's about to change in a few seconds. Even when in extreme pain Showa tells Meiji to buy them some time. That means either this attack was a diversion the whole time and they've been played like a fiddle or they're waiting for reinforcements of some kind.

  While another Thunder King Fist came his way, Tensai was quick to find a safe path through the wave of incoming debris. Using many of the rock spires he created that are hurtling towards him as platforms he manages to get over the shockwaves, as well as using the Sinner corpses as springboards. Waiting for when Meiji is out of breath and weakened. Deadman or not he will get tired out eventually due to using up so much Reishi throughout this fight not to mention all of the Reishi he has been losing just to stay alive. With the wave of attacks over Tensai dusted himself off and walked towards Meiji with a knife in his hands and his Reiatsu flaring up around him.

"Even though we only need one of you to get answers, it would hurt to take more than one just in case. Even if one is not as willing to divulge info we could always use another. And those who can't well, I am sure my captain would be delighted to see what makes a Sinner different from the Souls of Soul Society. I assure you will be going through an excruciating pain the likes of which you probably already experienced in Hell, or even worse depending on which depth you came from. And if I am so lucky, I might be able to participate in the dissection, now that's something to look forward to. You want to know what's the most terrifying part about this though, I didn't even need to use my Shikai to beat you all,"
Tensai said with a menacing grin.



  His Tantō in hand he goes to cut Meiji's arms and legs in various pressure points/nerves with quick precision that would make the world of the living's greatest surgeons jealous, to disable them giving them no hope of escape or even any hope using Thunder King Fist again. While also not killing them.

The sudden, raw impact of the Meiji demon's Thunder Fist cracked the ground around her, sending Sinners and debris flying. The car she had used as shelter earlier was now nothing but twisted broken metal. There wasn't even anything recognisable as a street around her in a ten meter radius, just scraped broken earth, shattered burnt slabs of concrete, metal, glistening half-melted shards of glass, and a thick pall of ash and smoke all around her.

Every muscle and bone in her body felt sore, still vibrating and charged with aftershock. Every hair on her body stood on end, and if she didnt already have white hair, it would surely have been turned white.

She couldn't see clearly. She must have burst a blood-vessel in her eye. That wasn't good.

She moved her mouth, trying to feel her tongue. She still had teeth, but there was no sensation. No taste.

Her sense of smell was still present. Woefully so.

As the thick clouds of disturbed ash and dust cleared, she saw she was still standing, while the Sinners slowly rose from where they had fallen, shifting body-parts clicking grotesquely, uncaring of the damage their own masters had done to them.

They continued to regard her with baleful eyes, drool dangling from bloodied, serrated mouths.

She no longer had hatred or pity for them. They were meat-puppets, broken, empty shells.

All the easier to destroy.

Opening her mouth again, she tried to voice her fury and faith once again, but only a strained rasp came out.

Her vocal chords were well and truly scraped sore. It was amazing she could breath, let alone stand.

Narowing her eyes, she instead clapped her bruised and bloodied hands together in prayer, and silently invoked Judgement on all those stood before her.

Reishi went forth in blue tendrils, and the arrows that she had fired now re-appeared, a ghostly glimmer of their former selves, to re-loose themselves once more on the gathered foes.

As the shadow of the bolts she had sent forth were conjured once more, ghostly blue snow began to fall around her, like the memory of winter, or of the cherry blossom of spring.

Her rage had gone beyond blazing. Now it was smothering and cold, as unignorable, unavoidable as the winter itself.

She raised her bow-stave once more, bloodied fingers somehow still as she held and drew the spirit-string back again and again.

And again.

And again.

Waves of reishi-empowered arrows spit forth from her, screaming out in numbers. Every five heartbeats she felt herself send forth more, untill the air was thick and foul with the icy-blue shards of her Holy Bow and the paler white-blue of their returned ghosts, striking without mercy at every Sinner in range.

"Cines Cinerem.
Ut pulvis pulvis.
In Nomine Patrios, Filios et Sanctus."


The words hung in the air, her lips moving even if no voice came forth.

Her holy work continued.

Seeing that even a last resort slash could do little except take down a harmless afterimage, Taisho resigned himself to his fate with honor. Though he still held up his Midnight Blade defensively like a real warrior does in his last stand, he did not stop Yoshinori's blade slashing across his legs, and finally, a paralyzing electrical whip, surrounding him, shocking his body to the core and letting his slump to the floor, tied up with his arms locked behind his back.

"Heheh..." Taisho muttered under his breath, hearing his Shinigami opponent declare that he will be forced to answer his questions. "Just make sure that curiosity doesn't kill the cat..."

His comrade, Meiji, was hardly doing any better. Having expected his last attempt to take the Shinigami down to at least to some damage, he instead had to watch in shock as Tensai nonchalantly walked towards him, monologuing. What the Shinigami was speaking about hardly registered to the Sinner leader at this point - the fact that he was at the edge of his power, pretty much backed to a corner, by a Shinigami who was far more powerful than he initially imagined, was what concerned him more. And then, Tensai suddenly struck, swinging his knife with precision, spilling blood all over and eventually forcing the Sinner to fall to his knees. With his limbs disabled, however, he wasn't going to stay up kneeling for long.

"D-damn it..." he grunted under his breath and fell flatly onto his face before Tensai.

While there were still some ordinary Sinners left, those were getting dispatched quickly, too. This was where Eisa came in. Powering through the pain solely through rage, the Quincy woman was now eliminating the creatures one after the other, firing off more and more arrows with each passing second, and thinning the herd to the point where only several loose gangs were left. Only one threat was standing on the battlefield.

Showa. And even he was about to receive his due. Stepping past Tensai and the knocked out Meiji, Maria began making her way towards the stoic, yet very, very concerned Sinner leader, her hand ready to draw the Zanpakuto at any instant.

We... failed. They're coming, and quickly, and we failed to stop the Shinigami in time...

"Tensai and Yoshi sure were nice, keeping your two buddies alive, weren't they?" Maria called out, striking a smug smirk and drawing her weapon. "Unfortunately for you... I'm a bit of a bad girl."

Before Maria could charge forth and put an end to Showa, however, the sky roared, shaking, forcing the Shinigami to stop and getting all the remaining Sinners to turn in horror. Meiji weakly sighed, Taisho struck a resigned smile. And finally, the sky itself opened up, revealing an enormous gate to Hell.



Several creatures would step out from the gate, and while all of them were clearly hellish, they were also clearly not Sinners - those were muscular creatures with a skeletal shell within. Beyond them, however, stood something different - a man in the midst of transformation, shedding a former demonic form and being molded into a normal, human-like form. A grimoire manifested itself to life next to him, floating by his hand and opening itself up.

Seeing the Kushanada was already a lot to take in for the Sinners, but the mere presence of the man behind them sowed pure terror in their hearts. "P-Prince Ilvamal..." Showa mumbled under his breath - even he, having known of the arrival of the Guardians of Hell, was taken back.



The man referred to as "Prince Ilvamal" looked through the destroyed city below, the defeated Sinners laying across the ground, and the fighters who had taken them down - three Shinigami and one Quincy, with little emotion, but then formed an ever so faint smile.

"Such weaklings you had to fight and yet you are all now laying upon the earth..." he muttered under his breath, slowly raising his hand. "I don't even know if I should be glad or disappointed."

As soon as the Prince's finger pointed forward, the Kushanada fired off chains and spikes from their bodies to capture the Sinners, pulling them back to Hell one after the other. Watching the process unfold at first, he then lowered his hand and placed it upon the grimoire floating next to him. As soon as his finger trailed across its page, a powerful burst of sharpened bones fired off from him, aiming to skewer all three of the Sinner leaders and drag them away - fighting against any techniques used to hold them back.






The Sinners have been defeated!

Surprises all around, to be sure. Yoshinori had suspected somewhat that the appearance of Hell invaders in the Realm of the Living to not be some isolated incident, confined only to the four beings in which he and his teammates + Quincy had just fought. However, out of all his background suspicions, he couldn't have expected this occurrence.

"The Gates of Hell...." Yoshinori muttered under his breath, his eyes narrowing as he stared at the broad shouldered skeleton men that seemed to have gathered around the stoic figure of Prince Ilvamal, although Yoshinori certainly didn't know the man by name given the only mention of the man's name came in the form of a mutter from a Sinner not even near him. But, he didn't need to have an introduction to identify a commander when he saw one.

And just like that, the reclamation begun.

Springing fast from the balls of his feet, Yoshinori launched himself as the chains and bone spikes shot towards the Sinners with intent to drag them back to Hell. Usually, he'd be glad that they were returning to the dimension from which they came, for it meant the public populace was safe. However, there was so much he still didn't know about these people, and given how easily this man and his henchman had opened up a gate to Hell from Hell, chances are there was something in play that allowed the universe's ugliest people free reign through dimensions.

Yoshinori needed to know why.

"Hadō #78. Zangerin!" Yoshinori called out, his Wakizashi lit ablaze with bright yellow energy once more as he shot across the upturned ground, launching himself to the Sinner nearest to him: Taisho.

Swinging his blade in a horizontal slash across air, Yoshinori released a supercharged wave of Reishi from his Zanpakuto with intent to clash directly with the incoming chains and spikes heading Taisho's way. The Shinigami grit his teeth, aware that if the team could just capture one Sinner to drag back for interrogation...that this mission would be worth something more than just buying time until the next rumble.

Heart pounding, sweat coursing down his face in rivulets, the silver haired Shinigami could do nothing but hope what he did was enough to stave off the recollection attempt.

  Tensai took delight to see his opponent fall onto the ground before him. All who disrupt the balance must be punished. And they must fear and respect those who bring balance to the world. That is the purpose of the Shinigamis. As he watched the Quincy take care of the weaker ones, and Yoshinori take of the third leader, it was safe to say that they were all dealt with. However, he then spotted Maria about to execute Showa.

"Maria wait, we have a better chance of getting answers if we bring both-"
Tensai pleaded.

  It was then he felt a similar chill to the one he felt when a Gate of Hell opened in front of him. However, this one was even colder and came from above as he witnessed a giant portal opens. The Yushanada, the Guardians of Hell, he had read of them before, and that means they are probably going to be taking the Sinners back, but that demon person there. The way Showa speaks of this Prince Ilvamal showed he feared the man. Was it a fear cause of his power or authority over the Sinners, or the Yushanada, cause it's the first Tensai has heard of this person.

  It was then he saw the hordes of chains and spikes heading their way. The bone spikes coming from the prince of Hell itself are going towards the direction of Showa and Meiji.

"Those two must know more about that man and their mission than any of their underlings. If we let them leave then all of this was for nothing. Not to mention they have the opportunity to be fully healed and come back stronger. We need to get as much as we can out of them or this mission will be a failure," Tensai thought.

  He then honed his senses to sense the Reiatsu of the bone spikes, finding any points where the Rerokyu is lowest. He will then power up his knife by flowing Reishi through it as he would jump forward into the air to cut through the bone spikes coming towards Showa and Meiji respectfully. And just in case he also prepares fire a Byakurai at the bone spikes or chains coming his way in an attempt to make sure they can bring these two back to Soul Society.

Eisa watched with numb dread as the Gate opened up, her chest heaving with exertion and desperate for breath. Her fingers were bloody and bruised from non-stop bow-fire.  At first she feared a second wave, another rolling wave of evil to consume. Her righteous fury, so strong, still burning, flickered like a candle. 

She raised her bow once more, determined to give her life to the last.

Then, stepping forth, massive Guardians, and a figure who radiated evil so strongly it made her stagger.

She could not hear what was said, but somehow she knew.

The wails of terror from the handful of Sinners still "alive" around her confirmed this new reality.

The Lord of the Pit had come to take them back to their damnation.

It was only now that she could look around and really take stock.  As mighty piercing chains shot forth, huge long chords of infernal energy, she began to see where she was, and what she had done.  Dozens of Sinners lay, some moaning, some wailing, some simply still and silent. All had the residual glow of having been pierced many times by her Holy Arrows. 

But whereas her bolts had brought pain, the infernal spikes now brought raw animal terror and cries of hopelessness.

Eisa, somehow still standing, watched as the spikes pierced them with merciless accuracy, as unyielding and as inevitable as her own shots had been. She realised how pale an imitation of Divine Judgement her fury truly had been, and her anger subsided.


One of the Sinners, lying on the ground nearby, looked at her with his baleful eyes, now turned upwards, a shaking hand in supplication for mercy.


She looked away from his pitiful eyes, and around at the wasted city, and wondered how many hundreds might have died here.

She lowered her bow-stave, and did not offer mercy.

"If not even God will forgive you, neither will I." The Quincy said in a hoarse whisper. 

Now, turning her back, she made as to walk away, but staggered against what remained of a wall, exhaustion rapidly filling the void left by her draining anger.

No doubt she would face the strictest censure for her behaviour here. In truth, she had done all she could. No amount of strategizing or co-ordination could have saved this district. 

This had been a black day, whatever the outcome. 

She only hoped it had been enough, whatever judgement she would soon endure.

"Tetsuo...I'm sorry." Eisa mumbled wearily, thinking of her husband. Did he still love her, even a little? If so, she felt guilt for the pain she must put him through, would soon put him through, and would continue to put him through.  Her wounds were many, but she sensed they were not grievous.

She would live, and serve again, and stand Judgement once more, on more Hollows, maybe more Sinners, to come.

She ignored the Shinigami, as they seemed to mostly ignore her.

Closing her eyes, the exhausted Quincy slumped down against the wall, and felt merciful darkness take her.

The Shinigami opted to fight, it seems. Against a burst of Kushanada chains and spikes, two of the death god trio sent attacks of their own, desperately aiming to cling onto at least a few of the Sinners they have since captured. At first, Prince Ilvamal did not even notice their efforts, the first of Yoshi and Tensai's supercharged attacks merely bouncing back against the hardened bone spikes.

Content with a job well done, the Prince closed his grimoire and the spikes extruding from him transferred themselves to nearby Kushanada. As strong as these guardians of Hell were, however, they could not maintain the enormous amount of Reishi which their overlord used to keep the spikes strong - and so, when Yoshi and Tensai's assault continued, the skeletal creatures found themselves unable to keep up, and so, the spikes broke. Taisho and Meiji, though still with deep, bleeding holes in their guts from where the bone had stabbed them, fell to the ground, for the Shinigami to catch.

Hearing the sound of bone snapping, Ilvanal stopped in his tracks - he had almost made his way through the Hell gate by the time he turned and glanced over to the city over his shoulder. Of course, seeing Sinners which belonged to him getting ripped from the Kushanada's grip was... disappointing, but was it really worth it to go down and smack a few insects for something so tiny and worthless as a few damned?

"...Fine then. If that's what you wish."

Ilvanal turned around, vanishing through the portal once more. The Kushanada, having gathered the rest of the Sinners already, followed after him, and soon, the gate closed and vanished. The sky once again cleared out, and a chilling silence set in.

"So..." Maria blurbed, sheathing her Zanpakuto. "...Who wants to hit the bar now that we're done?"

Just like that, it was over. The Gate to Hell vanishing amongst the sky just as swiftly as it had arrived, leaving the Shinigami squadron to wonder just what the hell had happened. And what a mess they were left with. Upturned earth, leveled buildings as far as the eye could see, and who knew how many lives were lost in the midst of the struggle to control this threat. Probably less lives than what would have been lost if the issue was left unchecked but...


Was this a victory?


Such a simple question proved ever elusive to even Yoshinori as he stepped forward, his gaze dipping downwards to regard the two fallen Sinners, now grievously injured. Yoshinori grimaced whilst holding out his hand, golden Reishi coalescing around the outstretched limb before being cast out in the form of solid rope, effectively tying up the pair once more under Bakudo#4 Hainawa. With a soft groan, Yoshinori held out his right hand, blue light spawning forth from his fingertips before materializing into his golden smoking pipe, to which he promptly placed back in his mouth, taking a deep inhale before letting the smoke filter out gradually from his lips in a concentrated stream.

"Hit the bar? Fuck it, I'm in. I think I deserve a drink after the day's bullshit." Yoshinori commented, accentuating his words with yet another long pull of cigarette smoke, exhaling it in a large cloud. After releasing a deep groan, which only served to make his frustration clear, Yoshinori knelt down before Taisho, before wordlessly placing the injured and bound Sinner across his right shoulder.

"We have a few formalities to take care of first, such as securing them a nice private hospital bed so they don't bleed out and die again. That would be counterproductive. That, as well as giving a report to the necessary higher ups as to our new prisoners are probably our more pressing concerns....then I'd like a nice few drinks so I don't remember what a shitty day today has been." Yoshinori spoke as he turned to walk away from the scene with Taisho in hand, intent to let someone else carry Meiji.

"Tensai, be a dear and give a little jumpstart to our Quincy friend. A little healing Kido to ensure she actually does wake up sometime this week. Least we could do as thanks. That, along with leaving her out of the mission report. I'd rather not be ordered to hunt her down after this is all over. It'd be a real bummer."

With that, Yoshinori continued on the only relatively open path remaining in their immediate surroundings that led out of the ruined city. Yet as he lapsed into silence, the silver haired Shinigami couldn't help but feel himself drifting into his own thoughts...

What was next for these Sinners?
