Grabbed by his Shinigami opponent, Prince Ilvamal grunted at the sudden pierce - somehow, Hyakuji managed to predict his technique and transfer the same curse to him, the demonic energy immediately burning in his flesh. Before he could respond, the Shinigami was gone, employing a technique warping the flow of time itself The horde of magical skeletons turned out to be little more than a delaying action, as both Hyakuji and Tensai responded to the summoned hordes immediately and efficiently. Not only that, but the latter dared to use his own attack against him - employing a Kido spell to take advantage of the skeletons he summoned in order to throw them against him.

Overwhelmed by such an unexpected defense, Ilvamal briefly floated back down on the ground, his left hand hovering next to his face, covering his left eye, and the pitch black demonic mark, a sign of the Demon's Sealed State, cutting through it. For a second, it glowed a dim red, and a gust of Reishi suddenly swirled around him, a repulsive aura for the battle about to be.

A ferocious melee followed. Hyakuji flew first, the Shinigami's blade clashing with the Demon's aura and piercing through it after a few shots, easily cutting through outgrowths of bone and slashing into his flesh. A thousand flying blades met Ilvamal's Reishi, struggling against it, before finally followed by a bolt of black lightning which struck the Demon from behind.

"Snow" dived in immediately after, her assault reliant not on a Zanpakuto, or a similar weapon, but just the brute force of her fists. The barrage, though unbelievably powerful, met a match at first - Ilvamal answered with well placed blocks and bursts from his repulsive aura, deflecting one fist after another. Eventually, however, the "Plus" pierced through, dealing a powerful gut punch which left the Demon staggered.

Just in time, the two other Shinigami in the battle charged from different sides - Maria jumped in, swinging her Zanpakuto from above, while Tensai rushed at Ilvamal from below, swinging a powerful punch. Though staggered by "Snow", Ilvamal recovered quickly, and blocked both at once - with one hand, he caught Maria's sword, and threw the flailing and yelling woman back at Janus, while with another hand he blocked Tensai's fist. He deflected the second, too, but the third decked him straight in the face, forcing him back. Ilvamal's face was still cocked back when Tensai fired his Byakurai - only for the Demon to suddenly catch it in his hand without looking, turn back to face the team of heroes, and squeeze the attack to disintegration.

He remained stoic, but beneath his calmness, the Demon could tell that he was being pushed to a corner. Thankfully, it did not particularly matter how well he does. Vilgrath must have already transported the information about the location of the other Hogyoku Shards to the Underworld, all the need to do is hold on, and retreat through their Gate of Hell.

Just in time, Hyakuji called out to the Demon, asking a simple question - what is he here for? What has he done here before? By now, the Shinigami and his friends have earned just enough respect to receive an answer.

"What have I done?" the Demon Prince spoke, with sudden emphasis. "I, nor we, have done anything. Perhaps you should ask your Captain-Commander what you have done. Of your entire Soul Society, he is one of a handful who has lived long enough to tell the tale."

Reishi began bubbling around Ilvamal's hand, preparing for a technique.

"Me, my brother, my sister... are relics of a time far before your simple hierarchy of worlds - Soul Society at the top, Hell at the bottom. Two thousand years ago, there was no such thing. Our two worlds lived in harmony - but your people and your King turned greedy, and banished us to be forever locked in Hell, to rule over the worst souls which the World of the Living can offer."

Briefly, he waved towards the Hogyoku-infused fountain. "What we are here for is to find a way to overcome this banishment. With the help of the Hogyoku, which can fulfill the greatest desires of its wielder, should they collect all four pieces of that artifact... we will accomplish just that. The Seal on Hell will be broken, and we shall freely roam the World of the Living again."

Having concluded his story, Ilvamal snickered, his hand outstretched. "Not that any of you will live to witness it. Hado #58: Tenran!"

Upon the casting of the spell, Reishi began to swirl in front of Ilvamal's hand, before suddenly exploding in an enormous torrent of wind and energy, and it sought to engulf two of the Shinigami as well as their "Plus" partner in one gulp. The attack was followed by several bone outgrowths protruding from the ground again, attacking its targets in the square just like before.

Muimina Hyakuji

When Yuki began to speak what was on her mind, Hyakuji instantly knew what she meant, a smile painted on his lips, nodding in agreement with the teenager. For a moment, deep blue irises locked their gaze on her, as if conveying a message of love that goes beyond eternity, “Mhhm. Let’s hold on tight and face our fears. Together, we will seize this moment.”

It was the first time, fighting side by side with his beloved, while unsure of the outcome, he would do anything in his power to protect Soul Society, and make sure that Yukari would return home safe, even if it would mean his death. There was nothing else in the world more important to him but her life, and he is going to fulfill his vow to lay down his in exchange for hers should fate be too cruel to separate them once more.

Somehow, a glimmer of hope shone upon Soul Society, as Ilvamal seemed to be having a hard time dealing with the barrage of attacks Hyakuji and his allies rained down upon him. The revelation of the demon prince about the divide Soul Society created was baffling, was the organization he swore to protect capable of such a scheme? While he had doubted the system after the disappearance of his master, he realized it might only have been a selfish and biased opinion on his part, although he also made it his goal to become the Captain Commander and effect the necessary reforms that would be favorable to all souls no matter what race, including his beloved’s.

Hyakuji scoffed at Ilvamal’s remarks, “There's always two sides in a coin, while you have revealed the other, doesn’t mean it’s the entire truth. I have yet to check what’s on the other side before I could forgive you for bringing hell with you. In the meantime, suffer from my wrath!”

The massive energy that flowed from the prince's hands was met by Hyakuji’s spell.

“Toro nagashi.”

Eventually, everything was swallowed in darkness, until a single light from a lantern appeared, and was followed by the emergence of a few more as if they were floating in a river. The lanterns surrounded the demon and exploded into patches of enormous black flames engulfing the demon prince as well as the bone outgrowths nearby.

One of those punches landed in the scuffle with the entire opposition against the crowned demon.

Time was fleeting, while Yukari managed to gaze at Hyakuji for a moment, quoting the lyrics to a song they both knew, being humble was necessary instead of tempting fortune.

While Hyakuji was thinking about sacrificing himself to protect everyone, the teenager was compressing her own reishi to protect everyone, a glowing white transparent barrier appeared in front of all the shinigami in proximity, as well as Janus. The hawaiin teenager was determined to use every ounce of her power to deter the forces at work. However, Prince Ilvamal spoke with conviction, which triggered her anxiety all of a sudden.

Yukari felt having her sense of touch missing from the usual six senses quite burdensome and she relied on her ability to listen to others with the utmost clarity. At no point did Prince Illvamal falter in his choice of words, somewhere in the history of soul society would be redeemed by hell, what presently transpired was karma itself. For the longest time, Yukari felt it was within her power to discover hidden truths for herself, in order to live her best life. Everything had a rightful place in the world and if hell was punishing Soul Society for something there must have been a reason.

Prince Illvamal revealed their goal of collecting the hogyoku shards, the present situation was a matter of being able to protect the shard, and it was also one Yukari had been ultimately looking for to cure her own medical condition. Now she was more determined than ever to secure the shard for the First Division and gather the remaining two in order to complete the crystal.

The demonic wind spell was cast, fortunately the shields were in place to protect her allies, and Yukari dodged out of the way of the bone growths. Once again she was face to face with the crowned prince, immediately decking him square in the jaw, followed by a karate stomp kick to his knee, and a punch to his core while screaming kiai.

People talking cause that was going to help anyone at all. Janus was actually happy about that because she had reached the limit of her powers. Whenever she looked for more answers it became more apparent that she had run out of them. There was also the fact she had manipulated fate so much that it was now a complete danger. Janus could hear the sweet song somewhere. In a distant future heading for her.

She watched the pajama samurai throw wave after wave of attacks, Maria and the other one strike and the nauseating power that the all seemed to bleed magic. None of it meant anything to her. What did catch her attention was the argument about how the bone barring bookworm could travel between dimensions. Janus wanted that, something like that could give her planet a chance against these outsiders. Janus got back in doomed mode as she saw another wave of bones in the immediate future and a lot more versions of impaled Janus. "I would like to state for the record that seeing that billions of times is not cool. In fact it sucks very annoyingly bad. New member of the swarm, go beat him up after casting heal, can you do that, is that a thing?" Janus asked and was delighted to be healed right after another hundred bones turned her into a pincushion. She was now literally covered head to toe in small cuts and her body was bloodied, oddly though her trench coat was still a perfect cream color.

Tensai was not surprised that the Demon was able to deflect most of his attacks, but the fact that he was able to get some hits means he is not invincible, meaning he can still harm them. And he still has his ace up his sleeve. He just needs to keep the momentum going. Looking at the destructing happening to the Rukongai, all of the homes of the Souls residing here destroyed and those from far away from being ransacked by Sinners or even more Demons. He would make Ilvamal pay for this.

Then the Demon Prince began to explain their motives and reasons for attacking Soul Society and what the object is, a shard of something called the Hogyoku or "Breakdown Sphere" that apparently has the power to manifest desires. While he wouldn't be surprised if Soul Society put them all in their place the fact that they are going this far to claim it and considering the strange power emanating from one shard of it shows more evidence to that claim. Meaning that absolutely he and he alone should be deserving of such an object.

"Clearly all of you Demons are a threat to order so the Gotei 13 of the past had to put you in your place. You should've lived with your place instead of making the mistake of attacking Soul Society. Cause I'll be making sure you are one of the casualties Ilvamal!" Tensai declared.

He would then managed to use Ilvamal's bone constructs to get out of the way of his Tenran spell. Jumping from bone construct to bone construct before any of them had the chance to hit him. Making his way over to the Demon Prince and while touching the Bone Outgrowths begins using the Kido he has active on himself as green spiked tendrils of energy cover them to put more of them under his command to turn on their master. Tensai would seemingly go for the same strategy as before, a couple attempts to strike Ilvamal with his fists and one more Byakurai. Though this time he would surprise the Demon Prince with a different strategy.

The spikes growing from his body would extend in an attempt to pin the Demon Prince down before Tensai would attempt to pierce him with his Shikai's syringe form to inject a disease to attack the Demon from the inside.

The reactions to Prince Ilvamal’s story varied, but did not particularly inspire him. Some, such as Tensai, were unaffected by it at all - the Shinigami figured that for all Ilvamal talked of having been banished to Hell, if it was done by their ancestors living in Soul Society, then it must have been for a reason. He was joined by Maria in this - the woman, as soon as she recovered from her knock-down and brushed her fallen hair to the side, let out a brief “Tsk...” and aimed her Zanpakuto at the flying Demon yet again.

Hyakuji’s answer was the most profound - while he did not completely dismiss the Demon’s story, he was not going to just take it for granted, either, and what mattered him above and beyond the Soul Society being right or wrong was bringing hell here, for which the Demon will suffer his wrath. That was far more awareness than Ilvamal expected of a Shinigami, and so listening to his opponent’s declaration, he struck the faintest smirk.

The outcome of the battle did not inspire much confidence, either. All the power Ilvamal channeled into the Tenran spell proved to be for naught, as both of the Shinigami and their Plus ally found a way to counter it - Tensai commanded Ilvamal’s own constructs to guard him from the tornado, while “Snow” cast a barrier between herself, her allies and the powerful storm. Hyakuji, meanwhile, met the attack with one of his own as he sent his own spell straight at it.

Darkness engulfed the battlefield, although Ilvamal could immediately tell that it was merely an illusion - however, even knowing that did not mean he could counter the attack in time. Several blasts of pure white flame suddenly struck him from every direction, rolling across the town square in a fiery torrent. As soon as it subsided, "Snow" flew in to continue the offensive. One powerful fist came in after another, striking the Demon directly, before the final spirited smash straight to his core propelled him away. Blown back by the strike, Ilvamal spun across the air before finally coming to a stop with a slide across the ground. One heavy breath was followed by another.

This human form... was starting to get very limiting.

"I have a name, you know! I'm not some "member of the swarm"!" Maria yelled at Janus - she introduced herself as soon as she arrived and that introduction being ignored was starting to get on her nerves. While watching Tensai step to take the baton, the Shinigami placed her hand on her ally's shoulder, beginning to transfer Reishi - this energy would start mending the woman's wounds and recovering her stamina.

Leaping over bone outgrowth after bone outgrowth, Tensai laid two more powerful strikes upon Ilvamal, knocking the Demon back with each one - although, yet again, he simply caught the Byakurai and swatted it aside. There wasn't much left, Maria could feel it.

"Let's go, Tensai!"

The woman rushed across the battlefield, her Zanpakuto outstretched, and blitzed straight at Ilvamal. From another side, Tensai, wielding his weapon as syringe laced with a powerful poison, lunged as well - and the two Shinigami slashed through the Demon in an X formation, landing on different sides with a fully staggered Ilvamal in between them.

A drop of blood fell to the ground in front of him, then another. The mark of the Sealed Form on his forehead began glowing brightly, and a keen eye could see that Ilvamal's Grimoire, which had been floating next to its wielder all this time, was now ruptured. The sealed form with which a Demon is able to cross dimensions and temporarily exist in the world of the living may protect them for a while, but once it is damaged to a certain point, it can no longer do this duty, and so said Demon is forced to return. Whether he wants to or not.

"You... you fools..."

Suddenly, a powerful gust of wind rolled across the entire square, and a Gate of Hell opened behind Ilvamal. In a moment's notice, a massive spear suddenly protruded from the hellish landscape inside, piercing through the Demon like a harpoon, and pulling him back into the realm where he belongs. In the span of a few seconds, it was already over, and the lingering effects of Ilvamal's powers - the massive outgrowths of bones now lying across this section of town - began to recede.

"-Brother!" Demon King Vilgrath called out, his eyes turning towards the vast city below. From the skies where he and the Captain-Commander were dueling, the battle around the Hogyoku Shard was no more than tiny specks whizzing around one another - however, he could not miss the sudden disapperarance of his brother's energy signature. Was he defeated? And if so, by who? Several of the Captains of this place of existence, for sure... Not only was this a massive defeat, but it also left the Hogyoku Shard exposed - which meant that their invasion may come to an end soon.

Where in the world is Zarzil? Where are her reinforcements? She should already be here by now!

Though Vilgrath's attention was only turned for a brief glimpse of time, this was more than enough to become his undoing. Dark stormy clouds were gathering above the battle, while Captain-Commander Rengoku Katsumoto had stopped attacking, and was focusing. He calmly held his released Zanpakuto at the side.

Suddenly, a massive outburst of Reiatsu pressure from his direction caught Vilgrath's attention - far, far, far more powerful than he had ever sensed from his opponent, either today or a thousand and five hundred years ago. Before he could even turn to see what Katsumoto had transformed his weapon into, or what had even happened, an enormous lightning bolt tore from the sky and engulfed him entirely. In a matter of a second, the sheer force of the strike was enough to rip through Vilgrath's seal completely, and only an echoing, pained shriek of the Demon King was left behind him after he passed through his own Gate of Hell.

"...you should have known that this would happen in advance, Vilgrath."

The Captain-Commander's Zanpakuto was once again in its ordinary, Raijin katana form, and the elderly Shinigami bluntly sheathed it. Without either of their commanders, the rest of the Demon forces were sure to falter soon.

There was only one thing left to account for before the day could finally be saved. The Hogyoku Shard which Ilvamal pointed to during his speech did not follow after its wielder - it was still embedded in the core of the fountain, happily glowing and radiating with a mysterious energy. If anyone were to try to remove it from its resting place, they would find it very easy to do - just pinch it and pull it out, and it will float above your hand instead.

Where the Demons managed to gain this piece of the Hogyoku from may forever remain a mystery, but it was the orders of the Vice-Captain of the First Division to seize it from them and secure it. Such a powerful artifact must never be collected by anyone, and so this piece will likely forever languish deep in the Society, away from any prying eyes.

However... The rest of the Shinigami who were fighting the demon incursion were still far away, the Captain-Commander in the sky was not paying attention to events on the surface just yet, and there was an exit to and from Soul Society just a few dozen meters away, which the Society was unaware of. If one wanted to, they could very easily seize the shard and escape, and the Gotei 13 would be none the wiser...

Congratulations with your victory! There is one last thing to do for the event - what to do with the Hogyoku Shard?

You may decide to keep the Shard, entrusting it to one of the players in the Event, and they will receive the Soul Society Hogyoku Shard after the conclusion of the event, as a part of event rewards. Such a decision is likely to come with repercussions, but it is practically feasible. Otherwise, you may choose to get one of the Shinigami to return it to Soul Society, where it shall become Unclaimed at the end of the event, and in the lore it will be kept in the Great Archive of the Central 46 Compound.

Feel free to plan your decision on Discord before posting, or, if you want, you can play it out naturally.

Hyakuji observed as his spell engulfed the demon prince, waiting for the next counter until Yuki couldn’t wait any longer and mustered her strength to close the distance again between her and their enemy, as soon as she reached the demon, the fire from Hyakuji’s technique subsided and the fullbringer pummeled him with a series of punches and kicks. The last attack sent the demon skidding across the ground. It was at this point that his shinigami allies, Maria and Tensai, dealt the finishing blow.

What seemed to be a curse mark on Ilvamal’s forehead suddenly glowed and the grimoire next to began to accumulate cracks, a large gate appeared behind the prince and he was immediately sent back to where he belonged.

A scream was heard from up above, the Third Seat looked up as he caught his breath, and witnessed how his Captain Commander finished their fight in one lightning strike, sending his opponent back to hell.

At long last, the battle was over. The aftermath was a mess. There were large cracks and crevices on the ground, the houses and shacks nearby were destroyed and crushed by the bone accretions which surrounded the area earlier. The town square was in complete wreckage, and it would take time before anything could be repaired.

Hyakuji was breathing heavily, exhausted from the fight, immediately, he transformed his bankai back to its original form to save the remaining energy he had, and the first thing that came to mind was to grab the shard from the fountain. It was the reason why he was sent here after all. Using shunpo, he reached the fount in a flash and carefully took the glowing orb from its place which floated in his hand. This was it. It was the piece his lover wanted to collect, so she could get healed. The Third Seat was determined to do anything for her, even if it would mean treason, he was willing and ready to pay the price.

“I’ll take it, and deliver it to the Captain myself. I am grateful for everyone’s help but this is where it ends. The Gotei 13 will reward you greatly, Toshiaki-san, Maria-san. As for our allies from the realm of the living, Tendo will take care of the token of our gratitude,” the Third Seat remarked sternly, securing the shard in the inside pocket of his uniform.

Of course, delivering it to the Captain was a lie, but no one would know that.

One of Hyakuji’s subordinates appeared, informing him that the pluses he rescued earlier were safe, the newly arrived reaper was not bewildered seeing two other beings from another world, as he was the Third Seat’s most trusted subject in his squad. Hyakuji nodded and sighed with relief at the news.

While it was time for the allies from the realm of the living to go back to their own world, Hyakuji could not miss this opportunity to spend even just a bit more time with his lover.

Without anyone noticing, he snatched Yuki away from the rest of the team, luring her into a dark alley a few blocks away from the paper house. Several slabs of wood and debris were scattered making it impossible for anyone to see through it, the reaper suppressed his reiatsu so no one would be able to detect them.

At once, he pinned Yukari to the wall as he pressed his lips against hers, kissing her deeply. When he pulled away, his deep blue irises examined every detail of her face, it was..very different from how he remembered her in their two-week date, crimson eyes, white hair, fair skin. Yet, he knew it was the same girl he captured by the order of Captain Katsumoto, and the same soul he had fallen in love with.

“I missed you like crazy. You know that? Every moment that passes in the dangai feels like forever, and a week of not being able to see you… felt like a tormenting eternity.”

Once more, he claimed her soft lips for himself, feeling them between his mouth before pulling away vigorously to catch his breath only to come back for more, like a crash of waves touching the shore. His heart was beating faster, as he felt his chest burning intensely. When was the last time he felt this kind of ecstasy? It was obviously impossible to stop himself from tasting her sweet tongue as he got addicted to her mouth every single time. Each kiss was telling of how much he yearned for her, and the reaper still felt like they weren’t enough.

“My heart is overflowing with joy right now, even my kisses could not express fully how much I feel for you. I love you so much, Yukari.” he confessed, pulling from his pocket the orb that he was meant to secure, reaching for the fullbringer’s hand to give it to her.

“This is the only time I could give it to you, so take it. Please," he pleaded, knowing that Yukari was against this idea, however, there is nothing she could do to change his mind. Forget the consequences, you are my life, if it happens that they find out and I die in their hands, at least part of me continues to live on. We are as inseparable as the threads of our fate, nothing could severe that. Not even death.”

When Yukari pieced together a few things between the demons, the swarm, she could not make heads or tails of what it all meant. Of course, she was just a High School senior, there was so much to learn about real life and the supernatural. The amount of empathy the teenager was capable of could extend as far as being able aid the demons, Princess Zarzil depended on her support in this endeavor, so the notion of peace was not unfathomable. Perhaps she could learn about the history of hell itself from the Princess someday for a sense of clarity but time was of the essence. The moment Hyakuji reduced his reiatsu to nothing, she did the same to her own, and was carried away from the scene undetected.

As Hyakuji described his torment, she was beginning to feel guilty of placing him in such a predicament, while she occupied her time with her studies she was not nearly as unhappy as he had been being so far apart from each other. Part of Yukari’s motivations subdued any ill feelings, she was determined to do everything in her power, to achieve all her goals in life. At some point she believed her lover would be doing the same for Soul Society and was stunned when he gave her the shard he promised his Captain Commander.

After meeting Commander Katsumoto a few weeks ago for interrogation, she was certain that she would be executed at the behest of the Vice Captain Miles to answer for her crimes against Soul Society, but now the gravity of the situation only complicated things further by being in possession of the Hogyoku shard. Isn’t this too much to ask for? It was true that she wanted to complete the crystal to cure her congenital insensitivity, since modern medicine was unable to treat the genetic disorder, even so she never imagined the price Hyakuji would have to pay for it.

The idea that she was different from her usual self mortified her, this was not how she wanted Hyakuji to remember her as, and for a brief moment even her pale complexion changed to the same natural tan tint of her Hawaiian roots in the dark alleyway.

“Will you truly be executed for misplacing the shard?”

Yukari was fully aware that the shards were over four hundred years old, after acquiring a few with the help of her friends, but she did not understand whether it was worth dying for if it was lost in the past before. However, this was completely different from the Hogyoku turning shinigami into visored, it was apparent just a single shard allowed sinners to escape en mass from hell’s gates, and that alone put Soul Society at great risk in the future. Hopefully, Hyakuji’s merits as a death god outweighed his crime, and that Commander Kastumoto would not act swiftly to get rid of the third seat when there are other dangers to consider after the events that transpired.

It was against the law in Soul Society to be involved in matters related to hell.

Certainly these archaic laws were set in place since the realm was first established, it might have been Hyakuji’s saving grace if it was upheld by Commander Katsumoto, who may have been alive long enough to understand the gravity of the decree.

“I wish there was another way, Hyakuji.” Yukari gazed into his eyes, he looked so different from when they first met. In the past, his eyes were black and soulless, and his figure was similar to a teenager. In the present, his eyes were clearly blue after regaining control of his fullbring, and his figure matched his physical age.

Oh fortune, let me see him one more time, I will not keep him long, please return him to me.

“Our love is eternal.” Yukari affirmed after a series of kisses she could only taste without her sense of touch, while she loved Hyakuji deeply, her family and friends depended on her so his sacrifice would not be in vain. Even with her last breath, she would continue to fight for what she believed in his honor, and make the world a better place.

“I will do everything in my power to protect everyone. A hui hou.”

Until we meet again.

The disguised senior high school student, rushed over the house in the Rukongai where Tendo kept a portal to his shop open, and she returned to Japan with the shard secured in her possession.

The commander of her own personal army threw up a blood, holes just about anywhere she could have them. Janus used her hand to wipe what she could away before spitting. She no longer looked deadpan and instead just looked tired. Janus thought about complaining though she decided against it because all these people were her enemies. So, when they started to crowd around a dragonball she decided to head over to Maria.

"Miss Maria, thank you kindly for your intervention. Without your assistance I saw my own demise more than two million times. I do appreciate it and apologize for the me that can't focus on names when I'm trying to manage seven dimensions of space." Janus then took a piece of paper and used a wall nearby to write down a note and folded it before handing it to Maria. "Don't read it now because it will not be believable until you forget you have that piece of paper. Have a good day cause I sure as hell won't." Janus said and looked down at her trench coat, which had fared better than her, before looking around. She was completely lost.

Janus tried to summon enough will to path walk to find the way home and simply lost control of her legs whilst her nose joined in the chorus pf blood loss. She couldn't see seconds ahead much less minutes. She eventually half stumbled with how broken she was to the portal out. She needed a hospital and about a week off.

And with that, through the pincer attack of him and Maria. They were able to beat the Demon as the strange tome which seemed to keep their form sealed was destroyed as they were forced back into Hell not unlike what happens to Sinners. While this information is helpful data in case they would ever have to face them again, he wished they were able to take him down then and there. Not just cause he wanted to examine his corpse like he said and perform tests and experiments on it. But for all of the devastation they brought upon the Rukongai and it's residents.

He looked around, while he didn't lived in this district it did remind him somewhat of his own. Fixing chairs and tables for people to be able to survive. These people have already suffered enough and now the Sinners and Demons have made life harder for them. There are very few Shinigami who would care about helping these people, but even if he is in the minority he will change things. He has to find a way.

Then of course there is Muimina Hyakuji, one of the two who was a major help in defeating Ilvamal. Not that he didn't contribute much himself but he knows that him and "Snow" are both leagues ahead of him especially since Muimina mastered Bankai and Yukari must have learnt the Fullbringer equivalent. Bankai, he has read and heard of it but hasn't mastered it himself. He goes back to his base form as his body turns to normal as he looks at his Zanpakuto.

"Why haven't I figured out it's true name yet, surely I would have figured it out by now, am I still not strong enough?" he thought to himself.

He then looked towards Muimina, remembering the way he reacted to the Demon's words. Implying that he wasn't surprised about the Gotei 13 having a dark side. That there are faults to this organization dedicated to bring balance and order to these chaotic realms.

"Despite being in the 1st Division like me he sees the faults of this organization, perhaps he'll shall be a great ally in helping to achieve true equilibrium. Until then I have my own job to do at the moment before I meet with him again," Tensai thought.

He then grabbed the back of his neck and began stretching and loosening it as his muscles popped. It is then that Muimina said he was going to deliver the Hogyoku Shard to the captain, where it will most likely gather dust being locked away in a vault rather then being studied. Though he was surprised to hear the name Tendo mentioned. The former 12th Division Captain he read about that was exiled for illegal experimentation on Shinigami, though what those experiments were he didn't know cause it a lot of document's info was classified and redacted.

"Good thing you had me and Maria around since we have a bit more experience with dealing with denizens from Hell, though you would have been able to take care of the problem on your own probably. Well I have some construction experience I could help the efforts to rebuild this area if need be. Now if you excuse me I need to talk to my familiar acquaintance," Tensai said.

He then walked over to Maria, while her outfit certainly changed the bow and arrow is what intrigues him most. He got to her close and brought her to a corner where they could talk in private.

"Been a while since we fought together, and I see you have gotten a new look as well. Though what interests me is that bow you brought with you, you never used it but it's interesting to see someone from the 11th Division carry a ranged weapon. You can't be a Quincy, no way in Hell would the Gotei 13 allow that, so by process of elimination you must have been a Fullbringer in your past. Am I right?" Tensai said.

Before anyone else could try to take the Hogyoku Shard, Hyakuji secured it and announced that he will bring the artifact to the custody of the Captain of the First Division - a reasonable decision which nobody appeared to protest to. Maria certainly did not raise her concern, she technically was not a part of the mission to target Prince Ilvamal at all - she was merely in the area, alongside the other Shinigami of the Eleventh Division summoned to aid the defenses against the Demons, and joined in to help her friends. The woman offered Hyakuji a soft, accepting smile - when the Shinigami explained that some "Tendo" person will reward their helpers from the Mortal world, she was left confused.

"Huh? You mean those two girls? But their energy is..." Just to be sure, Maria was about to glance towards Snow, only to see that the white haired woman was gone. So was Hyakuji, in fact. The other woman, meanwhile, offered thanks and apologized for the odd way she spoke to Maria during the battle, explaining it by saying that she was overwhelmed by millions of visions of her future. Baffled, the Shinigami blinked - and just as baffled, she watched Janus write something on a piece of paper and hand it to her folded, then hand it to her stating that she must not look. Not until she forgets everything that happened.

That...

"...thanks." Maria blurbed a response and looked down at the folded paper while Janus departed. She did not look, no, and instead kept it to herself. What could this possibly be about? Something which Janus wanted her to read, but only much later, and presumably secret...

What, was this a love letter? That would be... extremely weird, but Janus was also hardly less weirder.

Tensai approached Maria next, the bow on the woman's back being his main interest - working through the possibilities of what this meant, the Shinigami dismissed several options before suddenly asking the woman on whether she was a Fullbringer. Maria's uncovered right eye stared straight at him. While she allowed herself to reveal her nature to Hyakuji, knowing that he was certainly noble and at least somewhat trustworthy, Tensai was an another topic entirely.

"...Don't worry your head over it, Tensai, you sound like a conspiracy theorist," Maria answered as her hand tapped the tip of her bow. "It's just a bow. Our Division prides ourselves in sword mastery, sure... but there's no rule which does not let us try other weapons from time to time."

"I did not even know "Demons" were a thing, I assumed it was all just the Kushanada..."

Once Ilvamal and Vilgrath had their seals broken and were forcefully banished back to Hell, the rest of the Demon forces faltered quickly. Removing the Hogyoku Shard and it vanishing from Soul Society left all the Gates of Hell closing, thus reinforcements were no longer possible, and the lesser Demons scattered acros Rukongai were swiftly taken care of. A few were still being chased after, and a handful were captured without their seals being broken, so they could, theoretically, be questioned - even though Gotei 13 did not expect to extract much information from the grunts.

The Captains of every division of the Gotei 13 were assembled in the vast office of Captain-Commander Rengoku Katsumoto, offering a vast and stretching view of the Society for dozens of miles. The two Shinigami who had been assigned for a mission to defeat the Demon Prince who was guarding the Hogyoku Shard were requested to join them as well, a surprising decision by the Captain, and one which got the other Captains to offer no more than a few glances at the lesser Shinigami.

It was Captain Aritaka Shishio of the Thirteenth Division who had raised his voice. He and the other Captains were on the other side of the office, while the Captain and Vice-Captain of the First Division were by the pillars, the panoramic view of Soul Society behind them. Other Captains were discussing the events amongst themselves - the battle they witnessed in the sky and its spectacular finish, as well as the sudden end to the invasion when the Gates to Hell closed one after the other.

"Do not worry, the Captain-Commander has the answers. I am sure we all have questions, but among our ranks, he is the one who has lived long enough to see the ancient Demons with his own eyes," Vice-Captain Miles Ukai answered his peer, then the Captain-Commander interjected:

"Yes, Captain Shishio, the Demons exist, and they are the masters of the Underworld. Though related to the Kushanada, the are... a distinct entity."

The Captain-Commander glanced to the side, towards the panoramic view, and continued speaking:

"The Demons attacked us today because of a grudge their three rulers, the Trifecta, have held towards us for one and a half thousand years," Hearing no question or comment, only slight surprise and interest, from his peers, Katsumoto continued. "When a Kushanada consumes enough souls of helpless Sinners, it transforms and gains sentience, becoming a Demon. The Trifecta were the first three demons to have ever been born, and they transformed the dimension to their liking. In the past, it was a place for contemplation for Sinner souls, where they may finally discover peace - but they transformed it into a place of eternal torment, designed to increase the numbers of their kind."

The Captain-Commander turned back towards his fellow Captains. "One and a half thousand years ago, one of the largest mortal empires fell and left millions of souls wandering the mortal world. Much like the Shinigami, Demons are able to reap souls - however, they did so not to maintain the balance between worlds, but to increase the numbers of their kind, intent to rule the spiritual world alone. This sparked a war between Soul Society and Hell, which, thankfully, we won, and we were able to seal the Demons in their dimension for good. Since then, they can only slip out with a fraction of their strength, and are thus easier to stop."

Katsumoto then bowed his head. "I would like to offer my personal thanks to each Division involved in the containment of the Demon invasion today. Alas, I was unable to join you on the ground, but I feared that if I do not engage and stop Vilgrath swiftly, nobody else could."

"So... what now?" Tezuka Kunimitsu, Captain of the Sixth Division, finally voiced his question after a few seconds of uneasy silence. The Captain-Commander took a few seconds to respond, and did so simply:

"I cannot offer much, aside from vigilance. If the Trifecta were able to summon an invasion of such numbers once, they will surely do so again. Until then... that is all from me."

One after another, the rest of the Captains bowed in respect as a goodbye and departed. Captain of the Twelfth Division, Tsuguru Daisho, briefly called up Tensai, only to tell him that he can return to his duties, before leaving himself. The Captain-Commander, meanwhile, did not leave. He and his Vice Captain waited for the rest of the Captains to leave, then approached Hyakuji personally. Whether he was angry, happy or otherwise... the ever calm and experienced expression did not say.

"Muimina Hyakuji," Katsumoto began. "My Vice-Captain gave you an order in my stead, to retrieve the Hogyoku Shard which was keeping the Gates of Hell open. As they all closed and Prince Ilvamal was defeated, the Shard must have been safely retrieved - however, you returned without it."

A brief silence. "Please, explain what happened."

"The Underworld, or Hell as many people in your world call it, has existed as a place for the torment of wicked souls for as long as the world existed. Those like myself and my brothers, however - Demons - only first arose two thousand years ago."

The lights in Tendo Shoten were dimmed somewhat and the shop was closed for the time being. In the middle of the shop, three chairs were put down, placed in a circle - two were for the Fullbringers who had just returned from Soul Society, while the third was for Princess Zarzil, telling a story of her people's origin. Sadaharu Tendo stood by the trio - as soon as they returned to his shop, he immediately came up to them with medical supplies from his shop. While Yukari was still able to stand, Janus was in very poor condition - however, a few Kido spells and some bandages should do the trick for both.

"When Kushanada, the mindless masters of Hell, consume enough Sinner souls, they transform, gain sentience, and become one of us. Me and my brothers were the first three Kushanada to do so, and with our help, many others followed suit with the transformation. We developed a society in Hell, and began to venture out into the mortal world. In your era, the Shinigami of Soul Society fulfill the role of reaping lost souls to the afterlife, but back then, we would often take those duties as well. We would bring our reaped Souls to Hell, of course, but I am sure you can imagine that an evil soul would better reside in Hell than terrorize mortals here."

Zarzil continued with a sigh, and now with a hint of venom in her voice.

"One thousand and five hundred years ago, one of the large mortal empires fell and millions of souls needed to be reaped. We Demons hoped that we could share the burden and work together with Soul Society, to ensure a harmonious balance between the mortal world and the afterlife - however, Soul Society had a different idea. Their brutal warriors, divided between cruel clans and led by Rengoku Katsumoto, feared us, and wanted to rule the entire spiritual world themselves. Thus, they sparked a war against us, and banished us to Hell - which we can no longer leave. We can don a sealed disguise such as the one I have right now, but sooner or later, we are forced to return back to our dimension."

The Demon Princess glanced to the side, with another sigh.

"If I could, I would certainly bring justice to all of the Shinigami in that wretched dimension by my hand - but with this seal, we are powerless to do so. What my brothers tried today was ridiculous, and reckless, and I am thankful that you managed to banish them back home before one of the more vicious Captains got their hands on them."

"That's strangely humble of you, Zarzil," Tendo commented once he noted that the story was complete - the Princess merely scoffed and glanced away. Truth be told, the shopkeeper knew a different side of the story than the one she just told... but for now, he chose to keep it to himself. "I am more worried that this is not going to be the end. After all... I doubt your brothers will take such a narrow defeat easily."

He placed his hand on Yukari's head, patting it. "What is it the Chinese say? 'May you never live in interesting times'? Time flows slowly in the spiritual world, entire generations can live and die with nothing happening... but it seems you two girls rolled snake eyes. You are going to live in interesting times. Although..."

Did the girl really think she was going to slip through without a Hogyoku Shard being noticed by Sadaharu Tendo himself?

"...seeing what you brought from Soul Society, it seems like you are perfectly fine with being involved."

“Kowakatta. Demo… subete mono wa… Yukari no tame ni. I promise this wouldn’t be the last time you’ll see me.”

Hyakuji let go with a faint smile and glossy eyes as he watched his lover escape before they could be discovered.

Please… don’t take her away from me again. If it’s not too much to ask, allow us to spend the rest of our lives in each other's arms.

Before he got back to the headquarters to report about the incident, he prepared himself, maintaining a calm and serious countenance as usual. Certainly, the Captain Commander would not allow him to return empty-handed, he could only pray for a miracle that he would be spared from being sentenced to death because of treason...yet, he made up his mind to take the cup regardless.

The Third Seat arrived late in the meeting, he was not that surprised to see all the captains in his superior’s office. Although, he didn’t think that they too would be summoned along with the higher ranks. Of course, his arrival caused a bit of a scene, some of the captains glanced in his direction with a hint of contempt. Hyakuji remained unfazed and was not even intimidated in the slightest.

He listened intently to his Captain’s explanation. It was a bit different from what Ilvamal had told them earlier, stating that the demons were the antagonists and Soul Society was only doing its job to purge the threat. An archaic war… much similar to what happened six hundred years ago, where the shinigami emerged victorious again.

Since his master’s mysterious vanishing, Hyakuji began to form doubts about the credibility of his beloved organization. While he was ready to desert his responsibility, Yukari’s father tamed his rash decisions by suggesting to go through the ranks, and increase his influence if he wanted to make a change. To live with honor, as he had taught his daughter. The reaper took on the challenge; training and working harder to do his job excellently in the hope of attaining his goal...soon.

The question now was… who was telling the truth? Which side of the coin was stained? Whichever it was would not affect what the Third Seat wanted to achieve. His vision stretched farther than the spiritual realm.

After the Gotei 13’s briefing on the emergence of this new threat, Captain Katsumoto dismissed the meeting, leaving only the Vice-Captain and Hyakuji himself. Just as he thought, his superior was not letting him off the hook. He had been with him for too long that he knew the Captain would be able to see through his lies. Regardless, since the Vice-Captain was here, he couldn’t tell him the whole truth. Not yet.

“The shard went back to hell along with the invaders. Ilvamal summoned his remaining strength to grab it at the last minute. I am certain, however, that it would take them a while to come back. And knowing that we have a strong force, they need to carefully plan their next actions.” Hyakuji calmly stated.

The reaper waited for the Vice-Captain to leave, before spilling to Katsumoto what he did.

“But I doubt you would believe that. I gave it to one of the allies as a test whether it was the reason why Hell was able to get here, or the demons or some other forces at work. If it is, they would appear again in the realm of the living.”

Without waiting for the Katsumoto's reply, he continued, “I believe the laws state that we can’t get involved in matters related to hell. But since they appeared before us, while we were unprepared, we have to also plan our next course of action. Just like what you said earlier, I believe we should be vigilant. But more than that, we have to plan and gather enough forces to counter any possible threats.”

Hyakuji stopped for a moment, recalling how enormous the power of the shard was during his fight with Diana, as well as the recent incident in the spiritual realm. “If… the rest of the pieces of the Hogyoku fall into their hands… they would be unstoppable. Even in their humanoid form. This battle is larger than us, Taichou. You know it. I believe you don't want to sacrifice your men in exchange for war when you know that the end result is just an overwhelming defeat. For so many years, countless lives were lost to maintain peace, and a lot of blood was spilled on the battlefield to keep fighting for it. It would be a waste if the order we tried to safeguard after all this time slipped away again. We can't be certain victory would strike us thrice.”

The third seat drew his saya out of his hip, placing it in front of him and bowed to his Captain on both knees, his face almost kissing the floor as a sign of utmost loyalty.

"I will retrieve the shard once I confirm my suspicions, and do anything in my power to protect not just Soul Society, but the world. As what we have taken oath. More than to maintain the balance of souls, but above all, to prevent reality from meeting its own destruction. I swear on my honor, Taichou."

The air inside the shop was stale, Yukari tasted the air with her tongue to make the distinction, and she immediately took a seat in one of the chairs placed in a circle. Once everyone was settled in, Princess Zarzil explained her side of the story as promised, and the teenager listened to every word. So she was once a Kushanada who judged the souls of sinners? Until she evolved into the person she is today? It was a strange concept to grasp, in the end all those ill feelings towards Soul Society meant the Trifecta had succumbed to sin itself, and her brothers were seeking revenge after their fall. Typical. While Yukari held no place in the world to judge anyone else besides herself, she was becoming fully aware of the supernatural world, and the history that defined spiritually aware beings.

“Rather than seek justice, we should all learn forgiveness from the devastating effects of our super natural history, and overcome the animosity between the different spiritual beings that are connected to the cycle of souls.” Yukari stated simply, “Otherwise all these narrow points of views from all sides are set for a devastating collision course in the future when history repeats itself.”

A normal person would have reacted to having their head being suddenly patted, the teenage girl disguised as Snow did not even flinch due to her congenital insensitivity, until Tendo’s finger touched the red Quincy made soul glass fiber hair ribbon on her stark white hair did her crimson eyes look over at him.

After learning from Celeste that Tendo hid a shard of the Hogyoku in Schatten Bereich, she figured he would be familiar with the crystal’s reiatsu four hundred years later, and after meeting this former Shinigami for the first time, the teen could tell that part of his own soul was integrated with the creation of the crystal.

“I am not perfectly fine with it.” Yukari confessed, “It’s clear that you plan to remain on the sidelines while everyone you once cared about was sacrificed for a greater cause, Tendo-san. I will do everything in my power to live my best life and protect what really matters in this world without personal bias.”

Rather than remain another minute in the shop, she stood up from her seat, and looked away from the group storming out the door without offering a farewell as she was overwhelmed with emotions that she kept bottled up.

Once she was outside, she bumped into Hideki Soma, the unseated officer in the 12th Division, who promised to take her back home when her task was over. To his dismay, her hollow fullbring aura seemed unstable, so he immediately brought her back to Hawaii. In the comfort of her own bedroom, she released the tears she was holding back, casting her gaze down, as she tried with great difficulty to be the bravest she had ever been.

Janus stumbled out of the portal missing a bit too much blood and with far more holes than humans were supposed to have and because of it everything was feeling distant and confusing to her. `Her eyes rolled back as she simply decided the floor was way too close and passed out and it hurt.

Janus dreamed of Janus, just not the current Janus. This time a bookworm Janus, more masculine than her with a few too many pieces of gaudy jewelry. The dream was boring, she had seen versions of it before with other futures. Some what could be telling Janus where to go next so they could become Prime. She would not listen to their whispers as most of them began with getting killed. Nit really something she was keen on.

Janus woke up screaming, and alive, and without holes. All three seemed to be a vast improvement over her previous setting. She sat up, her clothes, aside from the greatcoat which may or may not have been supernaturally spotless and or bathed in the blood of orphans and virgins, the latter of which she could get from herself was the only thing okay. Apparently, as she looked around, the creepy candy man had fixed her up. At least she got something out of this.

"I feel horrible." The Diviner stated looking around as the candy man started explaining with help from the girl. It took seconds before Janus had lost interest and no longer believed any of their bullshit. Really when the word demon came up.

"Alright, before I take each of those lies apart, let's start with the real question. What the hell is with the RPG Quest Giver crap. I can see the future, this creepy candyman is like thousands of times stronger and would have been of a lot more help!" She stated before her mouth was already off to the races. Giving commentary whenever Tendo and the princess talked as if rifftraxing.

"There's thousands of Hells in different mythos. You are no demon and neither was that other bookworm. So once again, I call bullshit. This naming is worse than black robed invisible super soldiers calling themselves gods as they die in droves. Once again, NOT Hell, simply another dimension. A place dimension that small can not reap the entire world and the reaper as an image of death is far older than a few thousand years. Shinigami is a bad name stop using it.  They are wretched, they fight wars on dimensions that are not theirs, just like you lady. Pot-kettle all that." She stopped when the obvious lies were over.

"What are you talking about I did not bring anything from another dimension, it could be contaminated!"

Tensai snickered at her obvious lie.

"I would believe you if Shinigami were issued any other weapons besides their Zanpakuto, but I digress. Don't worry I think it's swell that you're a Fullbringer since it shows that they can become allies of us after all, although a shame that you had to die first. Hopefully this will be a start for a new future where they will begin to allow extra help from fascinating humans such as yourself." Tensai said.

He then gets a text on his Denreishinki from his captain himself telling him to come to the meeting hall to discuss what happened.

"And it appears that the captains want me and Muimina to come to them to give them a briefing on what transpired in person and maybe commend me for my efforts. Sorry to cut this short but perhaps we can talk more about it over a bowel of ramen, my treat." Tensai said.

He then walked off and arrived to the Captain Commander's office. He was surprised that Katsumoto had to explain to the other captains about the Demons being former Kushanada since he got the info from the Sinner Meiji and reported it and Yoshinori got info from Taisho too, did the reports he make not get to them in time he wondered. That is when he learned new info and began to understand what Meiji meant by the Shinigami being their natural enemies. As Rengoku recounts a war between them and the Demons fifteen hundred years ago and that the Demons are the reason Hell has become a place of torture. The fact that they reaped souls only for their benefits made him disgusted even more, they are true to their name but he will definitely make them all pay.

While he knew that Soul Society doesn't have it own blood on its hands cause of the Quincies. He does know that there was a reason they had to, and after seeing all of the unnecessary collateral those Demons caused just to get one Hogyoku shard and finding out where the rest are he is more inclined to believe the Captain Commander's words. Even if it's his emotions that is driving him to believe them he doesn't care. Because emotions are what separates them from mindless beasts who only act on instinct. To lose one's emotions is to lose one's humanity.

Though he is surprised to see the meeting end so quickly as they were dismissed after being told to make preparations in case of another invasion. At the very least they managed to capture a few of their members and though he might not be able to get them to talk like he did with Meiji he can at least let loose some steam dissecting one hopefully. Though as he is leaving he is called by his captain Daisho as his heart skipped a beat, was he about to receive gratitude for what he did from his own superior. Though his expectations were shattered when it was just being told him to continue his research. Still though the fact that he was acknowledged by his senpai could be a reward in of itself.

Without showing a change in emotion he said calmly "At once Captain" before leaving.

One day he'll be the one joining meetings, perhaps he'll let Daisho be in charge of the S.R.D.I. while he handles some of his captain duties to give him more time to conduct experiments. But for now he shall focus on the present instead of thinking about the future.
