If the voice filled with malice and desperation hadn't gotten her attention, it would've surely been the smell! Sombra turned her attention only briefly away from the throng of attackers towards the street below, where a bloated and imposing monster had opened its maw wide. The noxious breath it spewed was deadly enough to be visible in the night air, as it melted stone and steel on its way towards her.
When it reached the group, several voices screamed in agony as their owners burned and melted. Their flesh dripped from their bones like slag, until their lifeless bodies fell to the ground below like useless hunks of meat, ready to be devoured by the ravenous horde.
Sombra landed with a cackle of static, her feet already pushing against the stone road and propelling her towards the newest object of her ire. It wasn't a speed type, clearly, but its eyes followed after her quickly enough to see the massive paw and raise its leg out of the way. It gnashed at her with its great and powerful jaw, only to come away with the taste of fur and spilled blood. She, however, had twisted out of the way, and leapt upon its flank with her full weight.
The Hollow bellowed underneath this assault on its fleshy back, more noxious gas escaping from the holes in its mask as it cried. Sombra felt the burning in her tail and rear leg first, and yelped as she kicked away and fled from the foul smelling cloud now surrounding the creature. Her fur, already discolored by so much blood, had darkened while the flesh underneath was made to rot, and she tested her leg a few times before deciding the pain was too great to rely on it to evade.
The bellow of the foul Hollow drew her attention quickly, even as the horde was closing in from above and all around. Her mark had been left seared into its skin, just as it had burned her, but as it lumbered after her with its bulk and weight, she found fleeing difficult. No matter the direction she would choose, more teeth were waiting for her. Even the stranger was being approached, albeit it seemed the greater numbers were more interested in having the more substantial meal of herself.
Her lips stretched wide behind her mask, and Sombra lowered herself to hug the ground. More terrible gas spewed from the Hollow's mouth, filling the air and eating away at flesh and stone alike. This would hurt, she thought to herself, but she swore she could feel her heart absolutely racing!
Just as the lumbering Hollow drew near enough to taste its breath on the air, she bolted forward with all the speed she could muster. Her skin sizzled as she dove into the green, deathly cloud. The ground gave a little more where it had softened. Her tails found the narrow gap between mask and shoulder, and wrapped themselves around the creature's neck. She pulled hard, feeling its weight along her spine and grimacing at the pain.
The ground shook, and Sombra felt her tails slide free of the Hollow as she continued to run as best she could on her three good legs. Behind her, the monster bellowed and shuddered with a ringed burn circling its throat, entirely unaware of the faint light embedded into its shoulder. A moment later, the low pop reverberated tellingly through the air, and its shoulder and head were separated from the rest.
A short distance away, Sombra came to a staggering stop. Her breaths came heavy. She couldn't put any weight on her leg until it had healed. The horde had thinned considerably, but still, the danger had not passed. Not until-
Her thoughts were cut short by the sound of flapping wings, just before Genin plowed into her side and sank its claws into her ribs.
