The stars were starting to poke through the vibrant orange skies, the sun settling to make way for a moon that was not but a sliver of its fullest glory. Rin adjusted the backpack hanging from her shoulders with a tired grimace on her face. "as close as they could get her"? What the hell was that? One moment she was finishing her briefing and the next she was in the middle of some French city after being told to make her way to some village in the middle of nowhere!
It took her all day! All. Day. There was no exaggeration there at all! Two train stops to figure out she had taken the wrong line! TWO! Her bosses KNEW she could hardly speak a word of French! Why were they sending her on this mission!? To here of all places!? If she wasn't so damned tired she would have been uttering unspeakable curses to them.
She opens her umbrella as she walks off the platform. The night was just barely above freezing, and yet the rain poured to make it even more miserable. Supposedly there was a new fullbringer somewhere in this village. No other information. She hoped that their parents were gullible to the 'full-ride international schooling opportunity' bit she had prepared... Actually she hoped that they were an adult or an orphan. At least then it would be easy for their disappearance to be explained away.
Honestly even when she was just a thief she would have never stooped so low as to kidnap someone. Even thieves have standards.
Rin's boots sloshed against the ground, her Reiatsu pours out for a moment like a fisher casting a wide net as she searches the nearby area for stronger reiatsu signatures that she could latch on to. It would be great if she didn't have to pay for a place to sleep tonight.

This place was calm. Quiet. Peaceful, even. As the setting sun set the dwindling sky ablaze, the first few twinkles of stars were beginning to peek out from overhead. A sliver of moon was rising over the trees and open field. She liked it here. Here, where she could take her time. Here, where she didn't have to watch her back at all hours of the night.
Here, where she could take her time to enjoy her meal in peace.
Sombra let out a huff of breath as she raised her large, masked head. Her forelegs were crossed in front of her, her body lain out in the grass as though she were without a single care. Underneath her paw, the bloodied remains of black cloth and a discarded blade rest after the battle. Her wounds had freshly finished healing, and now, she was feeling that warmth and contentment that came only after a good meal.
However, the peace and quiet had been disrupted. She raised her nose to the air, and even through the rain, she could smell an enemy. No, not an enemy, she thought. It felt Hollow on the surface, but deeper than that, it wasn't. It announced its presence openly, without care for being found -or rather, with the intent. It moved quickly, then slowly as she realized it had been riding the train. A mortal, then? But... not.
It was perplexing, and she was content to sit and enjoy the warmth in her bones if it weren't for the next realization to come to her. She wouldn't be the only one to have noticed. No, others would be here soon, as well, then her peaceful night would be ruined. That thought -of others in her territory and ruining her after meal peace- piqued her anger. She could scare them away, but doing so would only announce her presence to more.
No, she had to be more careful than that.
In an act that was becoming easier with practice, Sombra closed her glowing yellow eyes and focused inward into herself. The wind rustled through her fur for a moment, and her tails twitched before beginning to fade from view. The Hollow's large body followed suit shortly thereafter, leaving naught but the figure of a young girl, freshly out of high school, to stand where it had been just a moment earlier.
Sombra opened her large, brown eyes, and blinked against the falling rain. The white dress which hung over her repelled the water with unnatural ability, warming her just the same as had her fur. Her power- her reiatsu pulled inward and became trapped within this new body, where it sat in wait for when it was to be needed again.
Her bare feet crushed the wet grass underneath, before she vanished with a crackle of static left in the air. Her Sonido carried her swiftly and near silently, aided by the sound of the rain, closer to the edge of the town. Most would be hiding away inside their homes for the rain to pass, so she didn't need to worry about being spotted by anyone except the curious stranger. The stranger, mind you, who paid so little attention to their presence that following them was a as easy as taking a midnight stroll.
But, why? That was the important question.

There was an odd silence to this place. Even in Tokyo the pitter and patter of the rain was pierced by the sounds of the city. Here the silence made even the light rains almost deafening absent of anything. Her eyes remain closed as she continues her search, yet unable to find anything of significance.
A sigh escapes her lips, her eyes fluttering opening after a brief moment of concentration. Speaking of the city it would have been nice if she could see the sky tonight. She heard how pretty the stars were once you left the metros. Instead that beautiful sky she was met with an inky blackness of the clouds above. The world in front of her was guided only by the street lights flickering in the distance.
The small map she had been given detailed a traveler's hostel further into the village carved from the remains of an old tavern. She hoped that it was still open... though it wasn't like a locked door was going to stop her anyways.
"Aaaaahhaaaah!" Rin loudly yawns as she starts to suppress her reiatsu. Speaking of it was a bit weird that she hadn't found anything with her senses. A novice like this one was supposed to be usually couldn't hide themselves so well. Were they really that weak? Was the information she was given inaccurate? She wouldn't let her boss hear the end hear the end of this were that the case.
It's not but a few minutes later she finally reaches the hostel, her boots thoroughly wet and soiled, god, that was going to be annoying to clean. Rin gives a firm pull and... nothing. A push later and much to her chagrin she finds herself locked out.
"Ugh!" Rin groans as he puts her case down and yanks the key from its necklace.
"I can seeeee yooouuu~." Rin hums in French to no one and nothing. She was alone after all, not like anyone in their right mind was going to join her in this weather.

Following after the stranger certainly was that easy. Even in the rain, where following after the mortal's scent was more difficult, the wet plodding of her steps along the ground was trail enough. Even when she finally suppressed her presence, Sombra had no trouble tailing her to her destination nearer to the center of the town.
It was there, standing at the door to an old tavern, that Sombra stiffened at the stranger's ominous humming. Not once had the woman turned to inspect for her presence, or given any signal that she'd known she was being followed, but nonetheless, her words rang true. Sombra chewed on their meaning for only a moment, before she ultimately decided on her course of action.
"You shouldn't do that, you know." Her voice was stern, and carried far more presence and confidence than the facade of the human girl might have suggested. Standing in the rain, with her short brown hair plastered to her face and ears, she blinked to chase the drops away from her eyes for a moment. "Giving yourself away like that is bound to attract-"
No sooner than she'd begun to speak her warning, Sombra's attention narrowly turned to the edge of town. Her power rose from the depths of her soul and from within her disguise, then reached out in a brief pulse as she sought the source of the disturbance with her Pesquisa. She'd wanted to prevent trouble from spoiling her night, but it seemed...
"Attention." She frowned a little, and turned her eyes back to the woman at the door. This small town certainly was becoming popular, she thought to herself: first the reaper, then the curious stranger, and now, more.

Rin could feel a terrible shiver run down her spine! No one was actually supposed to answer when she asked a question like that! Before she knew she had to purposefully relax her shoulders a bit before slowly turning around with a strained and fake smile, all like she knew what she was doing.
Now, she was usually good at hiding her emotions like this, but the extended train had made her very tired and careless. Indeed, a thief's best tool was a good eight to ten hours of sleep which she very sorely lacked right now. It was only a little bit less than obvious that the hollow-in-disguise caught her by surprise.
"On contrary, friend," Had it not been obvious before Rin was not a native speaker of French, made obvious by her accent and the way her sentence was just slightly grammatically incorrect. She moves her hand and her case behind her back as she makes a slight bow towards the girl as she seem to be distracted by something else in the distance.
It was a surprise, really. Even the most basic of humans had the slightest hint of reiryoku about them, even if it took a well-trained sense to feel for it. To have none, or at least as hidden as this girl's was, hinted well that this was the person that she was looking for. The way they spoke about her actions gave it away though.
"It worked more well than we expected," she straightens herself and tips her head to the side to portray a sense of curiosity, "I found you good, afterall~." Again with the improper grammar. Rin didn't even realize how strange she sounded.

The woman's way of speaking was, indeed, strange, but not impossible to sus out her meaning. She didn't appear confident in her choice of words, and with just a little work, her grammar would've been fine enough to pass for day to day conversation. Sombra didn't think about it for longer than a moment or two, as her head tilted a little to the side in slight confusion and accidental mirroring of the woman. No, it was the meaning of her fuddled words that was important.
"Me?" She'd never had anyone look for her before; at least, not that she could remember. The hair on the back of her neck stood a little on end, against the weight of the rain. She wasn't a reaper, but neither did she feel fully Hollow. Still, the thought of being sought after specifically only made her think of others seeking to consume her, and that thought pushed her to the edge.
Yet, even as her attention was torn between the woman's suspicious motive and the attention her actions had brought to this small town, the stranger herself didn't seem to have noticed. Sombra blinked again, and mentally prepared herself for the fight. She'd wanted to sit and enjoy the night and the rain, but if she had to...
"Why are you looking for me?" Her words were a little slower, and her voice a little lower than before. For a creature so used to being hidden from the world behind a mask, her eyes gave away everything that she was feeling: caution, suspicion, anger. Then there were the others, slowly approaching from outside the town and dividing her attention. Her feet hadn't moved, except to turn one slightly away and facing further down the road. If she had to, she told herself.

"Oho hoooo~" Rin let out a very intentional chuckle as she put a finger on her chin, "surely you have realized you have a different something about you?"
Rin places a case on the ground and under the door's awning. "There are many people out there like you, see?" the fullbringer takes a few steps out into the street. The girl before her looks tense and defensive from even here. Mentally Rin sighed. This really would have been a lot easier if they were just a bit more normal, right? What kind of special nutcase is just followed people out in the middle of the night?... Orders like Rin's didn't count!
For just a fraction of a moment the air about Rin suffuses with a green glow before she almost seems to disappear in a flash, or at least she would have to the senses of a mere mortal like she assumed the stranger before her to be. Stopping behind the girl she maneuvers her umbrella to cover the both of them.
"I am just the same, see?" Rin makes a sound to indicate that she was about to continue, but she is suddenly cut off by shriek piercing through the night.
Hugo awakes in a terrible cold sweat once again. His ears rang terribly as that frightening monster called to him once again. The boy shot up in his bed and stared out his window, sentry to the beast that he could not see. He slowly gets out of his bed and closes his curtains and shoves the frightening thoughts to the back of his head. Right, they were just in his head, he reminded himself.
He stayed his breath just as his therapist had taught him, but even as he did so he could not shake the feeling that something was very wrong. The unease he felt this time was... stronger than it was before, but he did not know how to describe it. All in his head... all in his head.

Yes, strange was the correct way to describe the woman -not a Shinigami, not a Hollow, but something in a way likened to herself- standing in the rain. Not only did she laugh, but she claimed to be familiar with her, and quite well. Sombra narrowed her eyes a little, and tensed as the air around the woman turned green for a moment. For that moment, she felt even more like a Hollow, but also even less; something which continued to puzzle her as her eyes easily followed after the woman in the few steps it took to get behind her.
That was clearly not a Sonido, however.
"Interesting." Sombra hummed, her nerves settling just a little. Whatever the woman's intentions, she didn't believe her to be a threat, at least. She also wasn't anything that the Hollow had seen before, not in her time in Hueco Mundo or this world. It intrigued her and piqued her curiosity, only for such feelings to be dashed aside by a sudden shriek in the air.
Sombra's expression soured and turned hard. She sniffed the air once, then twice, as the shackle on her power was undone just a little. Her Pesquisa pulsed again, but even through the rain, she could smell it. It'd come into the town now, and that shriek had been both a challenge and a threat. It wanted to call to its prey, but...
It had only announced its intentions in her territory!
Hidden underneath the call of a trespasser and the beacon that was the woman standing dangerously close beside her, there was another peculiar soul in this town. It had awakened, stressed and startled so that its power fluctuated enough to be noticed. Sombra recognized this for what it was, the frightened act of prey that she knew all too well. However, the soul was weak and meager. The one who hunted it, though, that was another story.
"You're wrong about me." She uttered as venomous malice dripped from her words. A slight distortion hid on the back of her voice, as the Hollow's power rose carefully. It was not enough to undo her disguise, but she may have been able to draw out the trespasser and bait it into doing something stupid. "But they're not far." Her eyes focused with deadly intention in the distance, where the rain and the dark obscured all to mortal eyes. She knew it was there, waiting and listening. She had quelled her hunger only recently, however. She could be patient.

Rin's blood ran cold as the night around her. She recognized the cry easily as the sound of a hollow but... it's pressure was unlike the wild brutes she had grown used to fighting. Her knees trembled as she took another step. The other fullbringer with her seemed to have noticed it as well, her eyes immediately snapping towards the disturbance in the distance.
Lightning flashed through the sky and illuminated a dark silhouette in the distance. For its size the motions of the monster were frighteningly silent. Even a flap of its gargantuan wingspan made not a sound. Its small eyes shined like malicious stars against the hungry void.
Rin, at first, could feel their cold and hungry intent, and her arm instantly shot to her side, very much empty of her blade's sheathe. She cursed to herself. Her mentor would have been ashamed that she was caught out so unawares.
"What are you-?" She starts to question the stranger's words until they release just an inkling of their power. In a way she understood immediately. Never before had Rin felt such a predatory reiatsu from a mortal. A part of her brain begged her to run and hide from whatever thing was lurking inside this girl before her.
"I..." Rin relents as she finally notices the diminutive spiritual pressure cowering somewhere else in the village. and starts to move for just a beat before a temporary pause, "...We speak of this later."
The woman runs to grab her case before another flash of green carries her into the night.
The hollow's reiryoku is empty and distant, not like the predatory and hunter's nature of Sombra. No, Genin views them all as little more than slab of meat to be enjoyed. To think they had stumbled across such a morsel in this village! Oh, it had been many years since he had last passed here and it seemed their efforts had not been wasted!
Not only one! But three! A full and proper meal for the first time in decades! But... the strongest scent among those? It was too much like themselves.
Strange. They did not remember letting such infest their feeding ground. No matter.
A bright, cold-blue light gathers within Genin's mouth before releasing a powerful Cero towards the encroaching hollow!

Sombra barely reacted as the woman spoke to her in fragmented thoughts. Instead, her attention was squarely focused on the darkness, and the figure that hid within it. So, when the woman sped off with another flash of green light, the Hollow simply smiled. It was a twisted and hungry look, one accentuated by the return of a distinct yellow gleam to her eyes. Off in the distance, a bright blue light had split the darkness.
The Cero tore through the town without a hint of slowing. Brick and mortar became as rubble in its wake, collapsing and turning homes into tombs in an eerily straight line through the otherwise quiet town.
The grin bore by the flying Hollow's masked visage looked upon this all, its beady eyes shining hungrily like stars in the sky. Its wings flapped almost silently, keeping it aloft in the air while it looked for the result its attack had had on its prey. However, there was nothing to be seen but the destruction it had wrought on the mortal town. Suspicion was just beginning to arise within its thoughts when a bright, ghastly light stole its attention to the side, and it rose quickly higher into the air.
The floating orb of light missed its target by far, only to be joined by five more like it. Together, the ghostly bodies were slow but persistent, and they flew after the intruder as it continued to evade them with ease. A grunt of frustration escaped its throat, soon followed by the bright blue of another build up of massive destructive power.
However, when that power was loosed upon the orbs, they emerged unscathed from the fading light. Down below, the second Cero tore through the town like before, but in the air, the intruder roared defiantly against this infuriating thing giving chase to it.
Then its voice was drowned out, by a haunting and foreboding howl piercing the night air. The new sound built louder than it had any right, overwhelming the intruder's voice and staking its claim to what was rightfully hers. A wide and heavy net of pressure swept over the area, ensnaring the town with its presence. The monster known only to itself as Genin looked behind it, at the white figure standing upon the air itself. Two twin tails blew in the wind, and yellow eyes glared hungrily from behind a slender mask.
"You dare-" Genin had started, only to be cut short by the other Hollow's voice, both distorted and clean in an eerie clash of sounds.
"Quiet!" Sombra snapped at the bat-like intruder. "This place is mine!" While she spoke, as though to punctuate her claim with the Hollow's screams, one of the six floating orbs caught hold of its leg and sunk into the flesh. A moment later, a low pop reverberated through the air, and the Hollow's leg burst, spilling blood on the ruined buildings below it.
Genin screamed, the pained voice of a human mixing into the primal rumbling of a beast's cries. It flapped its wings frantically, and sped off away from where the five remaining orbs had converged on its location. Already, the bleeding had staunched itself, and the nub was beginning to lengthen again as it healed, but the sound of a burst of static distracted it from focusing on such things.
Sombra swiped her paw, and felt the intruder's body go limp underneath her as she sent it careening to the ground. The ground shook by the impact, and the quickly parting cloud of dust revealed the intruder struggling to lift itself without one of its legs. She was just about to speed down to the intruder again to pin it to the ground when it opened its mouth and roared, though this voice was different from the one it'd spoken with before.
This new voice reached to her very bones, and she found herself stuck in place as she fought back against the compulsions that had entered her mind. In the distance of the darkness outside of the town, more voices returned the call.
On the street below, a flickering street light revealed the intruder's face, its menacing sneer marred by the paw-shaped burn mark that had been seared into its mask.

Rin could feel the searing heat of the cero behind her. The rushing wind as air and power pummeled against stone. The work of hundreds of years and many generations shorn away in an instant.
An instant when the rain stopped. Hugo's eyes were blinded by the sudden light. He could feel the very foundations of his home shaking and groaning as a terrible roar ripped through the air. A sound so terrible that it drove him to his knees and constricted around his heart.
The boy would suffer in silence for a time that he could not discern, unable to breathe or think of anything but the pain that he felt deep inside his soul.
As he crawled it was as if there was a terrible weight pressing him to the ground. Hand over hand he would struggle to his door in the dark. His ears rang with a piercing cry that blocked out everything else. Somehow he managed to hoist himself up to reach the handle.
His eyes grew wide when he was met with the sight of dust and rubble. The small hallway he had been familiar with for the past twenty years of his life not but a charred corpse.
"M-maman?... P-p-papa?" Hugo quietly stuttered, his voice barely more than a hushed gibbering.
"My~" Genin laughed as they lighted upon on a streetlight, their severed leg at last reformed enough to hold its weight. rivulets of its viscous grey blood fell to the ground as the last of its flesh pushed forth from the wound.
"You still resist?" It folds its wings together, wrapping the hollow in a cloak of its white, leathery skin. Its ears twitch before their head snaps to the side. "Grrrgh... no matter!" It barks towards the approaching hollows, and quickly brought to heel. There may have been no words but at some level, Sombra would understand Genin's commands.
Three more hollows rush from the darkness, driven to frenzy by Genin's call. The first tackles her, powerful jaws attempting to tear into Sombra's flesh while the other two lash out however they can!
Powerful wings lift Genin back to the skies as they attempt to make his escape! Now... where was that human morsel? Perhaps they would prove an appropriate appetizer before he put that vagabond into her place!
Rin had to act quickly! A hollow decimating even a quiet village like this would not go long without drawing the attention of outside forces. Rin's sword had already cut through a smattering of smaller, weaker hollows that served as the vanguard. She had hoped she would have found the real Fullbringer by now, but for whatever reason it was as if their reiatsu was being drowned out by the volume of hollows surrounding the town.
Turning through a maze of narrow roads Rin soon finds herself travelling beside the boiling scar that the wild hollow's Cero had left behind. As she moves, however, her nose is suddenly assaulted by a stench most foul. Like rot and hot garbage stirred in a vat of sewage. By instinct the fullbringer finds herself covering her nose and slowing down.
A figure finally turns the corner, but it is not the hollow she is expecting. A human!... no, a plus running for his life!
"Please! Hel-" His words are cut short as a hollow's oversized head turns the corner and easily scoops the soul into its mouth. From there the hollow lumbered forward and swallowed its capture. The poor bastard probably didn't even realize he was dead.
The hollow itself was like nothing Rin had ever seen: the mask somewhere between a bison's and a pig's, its neck easily the length of the rest of its body, which was like that of hunched and starved cattle. Blacker than black fur hung matted in clumps all along its body, and from its mouth poured a noxious mist.
"Fffffooooooooooodd!" It groaned as it stepped towards her. Rin raised her sword, thinking this would be an easy foe, but instead of just charging her like she thought it would its cheeks would swell before more of that noxious gas would bellow from its mouth! The poor bastard

Try as she might, there was no clearing her mind herself of the voice. It commanded her on a primordial level, forcing her to listen. To obey. To succumb. That thought terrified her; of giving herself to the Hollow's will. Losing what still made her herself only to help satisfy this other's hunger was unthinkable. It was-
Sombra screamed, her cry filling the air as teeth and claw rend into her flesh. However agonizing, the pain did help to clear her mind, and she snarled and twisted to try and reach the attackers with her jaws. On the second attempt, she tasted flesh and the blood underneath, and the winged snake that had been attempting to wrap around her was torn away by her teeth.
The snake Hollow wasn't held off for long, though. In seconds, it was upon her again, and she felt its body coil itself around her throat. Try as she might, Sombra couldn't shake it free, and the other two were only cutting deeper with every passing moment. As frustration and pain ate away at her, five orbs of ghostly light converged on their creator. Three disappeared from view, one into each of the Hollow, to be followed by three immediate pops that were easily drowned out by the continuing cacophony.
One gulped breath after another passed her open maw, as Sombra felt the bodies slide from her of their own weight. Her white fur had been stained red, but already, the wounds underneath were beginning to sew themselves shut. She inhaled slowly, but before she could locate the intruder, more Hollow were already rushing her in the air. With a burst of static, she vanished and avoided the duo's attack.

Hugo slowly makes his way through the hall of rubble with awkward steps. It takes moments for his eyes to adjust, but even more for his nose! God, where had that stench come from!? The boy covers his face with his hand as he presses forward. He finally sees his mother after clearing one of the few walls in the house that still stands.
His mother sits there silent as mounting roars and crashes rage around them. Her mouth quivers for a moment as Hugo stumbles in to the room, "Maman?"
"H-Henri..." Her voice was quiet as a mouse, but the name of his father was enough to draw Hugo's eyes to the pile of gore his mother was staring at. A lone hand sticks from the rubble. Glances of pierced flesh and the smallest smatterings of blood that rose from within tell Hugo all that he needs to know.
"Papa?" This was a terrible dream, right? His father couldn't really be dead, right? that was... it was impossible. Hugo reaches out a trembling hand to grasp the still-warm flesh, but he feels no heartbeat. Yet, when he focuses he can see a chain sprouting from his father's chest!
"Père!" He does not know how to explain it but he knows that if he acts fast that his father still has a chance! The boy starts to dig through the rubble and shouts to his mother. "He's still alive! Help me!" His mother acknowledges without sound and rushes over.
Alas, Hugo's spark of hope fades as he watches the chain dissolve into thin air, punctuated by the sound of a terrible roar!
To Rin's advantage seemed to be slow and lumbering, yet every strike she through towards it bounced off its steel-tough hide. She did well to dodge around its head, and therefore its terrible breath, but the stench surrounding it was more than oppressive to keep her on edge.
She found herself slower than usual, her hands trembling as they gripped her blade, her head spinning and the purchase of her feet constantly uncertain. As she speeds around the back of the beast she finds herself just a moment too late to react to its swinging tail!
With a terrible smack Rin is sent flying and tumbling across the street, her body only spared by her careful manipulation of the spirits in her clothes. As much as the thing seemed a reckless and brutish beast there was thought to its actions. The damned smell must have been laced with reishi. It was the only thing that she could think of.
The beast lumbered around with a great moan. She could see the terrible vapors leaking from its mouth as it prepared for another breath attack. Woozily she stands, digging her blade into the ground to support her weight. She would need to finish this thing off with a single strike!
The corpses of the hollows burned away into dust as Sombra emerged victorious, but she would only have a moment to regain her bearings. A low thrum dominated the air as one of the hollows quickly slammed into a house that had been beside Sombra!
A thick cloud of dust rises into the air, a vaguely insectoid shape thrashes around in the falling debris, meanwhile, a squat and bestial hollow somewhere between armadillo and porcupine unfurls itself from a ball. It swipes its spiky tail towards Sombra, sending a fullisade of dangerous barbs flying towards her!
The deep and oversized scuttling of many arms is soon to follow as some kind of giant mosquito of a hollow crawls atop the former house, the deep and powerful thrum of its oversized wings dominates the air once more! The dust cloud is blown away in an instant as the insectoid hollow launches itself once more with incredible speed, aiming to pierce Sombra with its mask's oversized proboscis!
Genin quickly perches himself upon the steeple of the village's small cathedral. Truly, it was regretful that they would have to ravage this place so. Ah, such territorial disputes were inevitable. If only that upstart had bent their knee this would have been so much easier.
Their eyes turned towards the other end of the village. Where was it again? He had come to this place once they had sensed the fruits of his violent labor. Indeed, they could feel it as if it were a candle in the darkness, its aura a cold blue just as theirs but it was... weak. Curious... Twenty years and the spawn of his violence was barely a smoldering ember?
No matter, it would be a fitting appetizer before he feasted upon these interlopers.

Battle was never easy, but it did tend to only last but a few brief moments for her. The conflicts that stretched out were the outliers. They were more rare. To put it simply, this was more tiring than any simple battle for food. Her very bones ached as fatigue began to set in, only to be forced to move by straining muscle and flesh.
In particular, Sombra was quickly overusing her Sonido just to keep alive tonight. She was good at it -damn good at it, if she were to brag- but it was tiring to use so much in succession. One after another, the Hollow surrounding her were attacking her all at once, forcing her to keep on the defensive. The air was full of noise, a cacophony of roars and explosions that was nearing to be challenged simply by the bursts of static as she leapt from one place to another.
However, she was too drunk on the thrill to worry herself over something so small as her own limitations. What was it about these moments, where the line between life and death blurred until it was unrecognizable, that was so... so exciting?
With another burst of static, Sombra appeared on the ground beside the comparatively smaller yet extremely well-armored Hollow which had shot spines at her. With a small spin, her tails swept themselves underneath its body, grabbing its legs and lifting until it had flipped over for just a moment. Then her teeth found something soft, and the creature cried out in pain as she tore into it and crushed anything vital that had been found in her jaw.
Everything else found itself lifted by her mouth and thrown aside, into the path of the mosquito Hollow and its sword-like nose. The weight seemed to slow it, just enough that her body weight and jaws found something just as fragile, and its thrashing form went limp underneath her as she twisted and snapped its neck and spine between her teeth.
When she lifted her head again, Sombra's chin was dripping with blood and viscera. Her fur was truly given a new color now, and despite the continued deafening sound of battle, something new found its place in the air: laughter. It built slow, finding its confidence in this place as her lips peeled back beneath her mask and her jaw opened unnaturally wide. Like the cackle of a woman gone mad, her voice pierced the cacophony with sharp precision to make way for the distorted wall that followed.
"Come!" Her voice lilted almost musically in her enjoyment. "You can do better!" In the shadows, she could see more of her brothers and sisters hiding. They moved about, unsure of what to do next for just a moment or two. Then the first brave fool leapt out, using its frighteningly long limbs to pull itself across and through the rubble as it ran at her, only to be followed by the massive throng that was the small horde.
She was gone before it had reached her, replaced only by the lone orb of ghostly light that the Hollow had haphazardly collided with. A few seconds later, its body swelled and expanded, until the skin could stretch no further and it exploded with a loud pop. Several Hollow were upon its remains before it had come to rest fully on the ground, and the rest turned their heads to find their target again; her continuing laughter always a source to follow.

The noxious green cloud poured forth, completely missing Rin, of course had managed to spring herself to the side and launched again to its side! A slight smirk drifts across her face as ash swings her blade for the killing blow! Only, instead she would feel a terrible crack run up her sword arm, her blow suddenly halted by the hollow's thick mask. She could see that her blow had only chipped away at some extraneous piece and only that. The oversized hollow howls, still, in pain or anger if such a distinction could be made with these things and rips away from her easily. With wild abandon the hollow shifts its weight around and uses a much-too-long neck to whip its head back into her with unassuming force! Rin can feel the wind evacuating her lungs in an instant, unable to muster the strength to draw in another breath as she tumbles over the admittedly short village skyline
She plummets with surprising speed, her body first crashing into the tip of someone's roof, her collision met with the sound of a terrible. clap and a small cloud of dust! She could feel the crying of her bones as they strained against the force of her impacts. Another and another until her reeling mind finally snaps itself back to attention.
With a swift movement her sword bites into one final roof, not able to stop her, but would kill her momentum so she would simply fall and roll into the street below.
Relatively speaking she... would live, at least. Her dazed stare would fall on what dim bands of light bounced on the contours of the clouds above. The pouring rain slowly lapped at the blood gushing from her head. It was a nice and cool feeling, unlike the burning desperation that had gathered in her lungs.
Suddenly she finds the strength to fill her lungs. She had to move. As much as her body begged her to rest, the rumbling of a hundred and more feet, if not the growing cacophony of laughter, wailing, and gnashing of unnatural teeth would mean the end of her if she didn't ready her blade.
Right as she prepares to strike at the incoming Hollows she is met with a quick reminder in the form of overwhelming stench. Even Sombra would have likely noticed it by now as the oversized hollow crashes into the street, it's green, deathly breath leaking from the holes in its mask! While its eyes had been trained on Rin those moments before, it quickly shifted its focus to rapid but fiercely more powerful reiatsu!
"Foooooooodddd!" It's low and rumbling voice shook the earth as it opened its great maw, firing forth a jet of flesh-melting, blood-curdling breath towards its new victims!
