City lights dazzled one after another. The night was young, growing into midnight blue as the sun kissed the horizon goodbye to finally give way to the stars. A speedy car passed by a narrow alley, eventually revealing a tall man with a rifle in the silhouette. He puffed some smoke from his cigarette, before returning his gaze to the skies which barely gave him a glimpse of their constellation. Heterochromatic eyes reflected the dull, grey clouds that hovered over the busy streets.

It had been two years since his recovery. Yael was lucky that the nurse who took care of him was kind and understanding, although a shame that they had to part ways in quite an awkward state. He still could not forgive himself for being vulnerable at that time. He was distraught at the death of his lover which he himself had caused. True, she was possessed by some unknown powers– but it was his fault that she was there in the first place. If only he didn’t leave her. If only he stayed… He thought giving her the liberty to carry on her plans would indeed free her, but then….

At any rate, he tried to make himself busy in the world of the living. And finally cut ties with the Wandenreich. He thought of surrendering himself over but changed his mind at the last minute. That was the time when he escaped the hospital and wandered around the World of the Living to survive.

For the second time, he walked away from his heritage without plans… without purpose. He did not think of trying to contact his acquaintances, and did not give them an opportunity to meet him, for fear of any confrontation.. Or conflict.

He had yet to start on his own feet again.

The revenge plot that he wanted to exact on Val’s organisation… or the shinigami dissolved with the SkyFall tragedy. Perhaps, it was the nurse who taught him to accept the mishaps that come his way.

What was the point in all these anyway?

Thus he made himself busy with other things…

He vowed to himself never to involve himself in anything otherworldly. Though he could still see hollows, demons, and other spiritual beings from time to time, he did not bother with them unless his own life was under threat.

Instead, he peacefully tried to survive as a traveling marksman, hired under the organisation called King's Glaive, a secret order of assassins that was being re-established after its disbandment several years ago.

Yael groaned. There was no use reminiscing all those painful memories while on the job. Thus, he leaned forward and dropped the remains of his cigarette. He leaped up, scaling the walls of the skyscraper as he headed to finish tonight’s assignment.

What he learned from those texts… and eventually that sudden meeting still bugged his mind. All the revelations were rather baffling… It was like dropping several bombs in a crucial and vulnerable area. He was certainly caught off guard.

Val was alive. But was currently in a boy’s body… who happened to be his son. Not only that… he thought it was the shinigami who had caused all these but the ginger head woman just told him it was the fullbringers… or rather, the head of Val’s organisation who was behind it. The one Val probably trusted… He betrayed her.

Thankfully, Niji already killed him. Even then, there was an itching feeling to take some kind of revenge. Though how? Further delving into his thoughts, he realised it was meaningless and so gave up on the idea entirely. To whom is he going to exact revenge anyway? Besides, all these fights… and endless vengeance… It was all tiring.

Perhaps he could just focus on how to convince his supposed son to turn from his ways… the kid was basically just two years old. He didn’t have years of experience to know what is good and bad. And if he spent some time in the Wandenreich, then it was truly likely that they had shaped and twisted the mind of the baby.

He might have a teenager’s body… but his development was not as full as the real one. He’d need some proper guidance. And as the father, it was only natural to take the responsibility.

Although one question remained. Where is he going to find him?
