Sealed Ball

Human Realm, Kagamino City, approximately 22 km East of Karakura Town, Japan.

Ugh...I forgot just how boring Hollow tracking could be...

It had been quite sometime since Yoshinori had found himself in the World of the Living. Ever since being assigned to the Second Division, the silver haired man had made it his business to avoid the light of day as much as possible, preferring to spend his days in darkness, with nothing to pass the time but himself, his thoughts, and Hanzō, his pet snake. Luckily, being the chief officer in charge of the Maggot's Nest allowed him the luxury of consistent solitude, surrounding himself with nothing but his subordinates and half crazed Shinigami inmates arguing for the fifth time about the temperature of the tea provided to them that afternoon.

As consequence, Yoshinori estimated that it had probably been about ten years since his last venture to the Realm of the Living, most of his field missions outside of the Maggot's Nest centered around Soul Society in itself. Hollow-work and monitoring the human masses was a task better left up to the Sixth, Eighth and Ninth Divisions, with the Sixth Division in particular being the acting patrolling body in...Asia, was it called? Yoshinori was pretty sure Japan was apart of Asia. Or was it Africa? They both started with an A.

Regardless of which division patrolled what, Yoshinori was here on a special mission today. A scouting mission to be exact. Reports from the acting Shinigami protector of the city had spoken of a "rogue element" of sorts in the area, resulting in a sharp decrease in Hollow activity as of recent within Kagamino City, but as a consequence the number of destroyed souls has only increased dramatically. Given that a Shinigami's Zanpakuto cannot destroy a Hollow traditionally, merely cleanse it of sins it committed while in Hollow form and send it to the afterlife, the destruction of Hollow spirits could only mean that the culprit was not a Shinigami?

So what was it? Common sense would say Quincy, but common sense would also mean ignoring the fact that the Quincy were practically eradicated several centuries prior. Or at least, that's what the textbooks said in the Academy. Faced with the facts of the matter, there had to be something involved. And that huge question mark on the report filed by the Shinigami Protector was why Yoshinori was here today. Perform stakeouts and be on the lookout for Hollow activity in an effort to catch the rogue element in the act, and either put an end to the threat or collect enough intelligence to report back to Soul Society and prepare a more effective team to get rid of this issue.

Though despite its importance, Yoshinori still hated it. The World of the Living's air smelled foul, the people dressed weirdly, and their jewelry simply wasn't as good as the ones available in Soul Society. In fact, the only saving grace humans had was that they had some lovely casinos, at least they did ten years ago. Nevertheless, the casinos didn't provide nearly enough enjoyment to make Yoshi enjoy his time spent with humans. He could only shutter to think how much longer he would be on stakeout before something of import popped up on his radar.

Luckily, he didn't have to wait long.

A mere four hours into the day's stakeout, Yoshinori's quiet time was interrupted when he got an alert on his Soul Pager regarding Hollow activity near an abandoned park in the outskirts of town.

"Well, about damn time..." Yoshinori commented, standing up and performing a brief stretch to get the blood flowing. A moment later, the man shot off of the building he was perched upon, the Shinigami swiftly making his way in the direction of the park, using his Pager's GPS to guide him there.

"This is probably the most field exercise I've gotten in about four months..." Yoshinori muttered under his breath, fishing out his golden kiseru (smoking pipe), from the folds in his robes. Lightning the thin sticks of tobacco already within the pipe, the Shinigami planted it into his mouth, needing the smoke to calm his nerves.

Just what was the cause behind this madness?

(Going to go ahead and start off initiative)

Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun. Or was it the Fading Sun? Something related to the Sun, almost certainly, Val got to read the page of a booklet about travel to Asia, fallen in a nearby construction site, when she was eleven, Japan was mentioned there, and she distinctly recalled it being described as something Sun related. It was described as exotic, too, which Val could at least somewhat agree with after having arrived to the islands. The Hollows infesting this place were not exotic, however. They were just as scary and died the exact same way.

Val got to prove that last one by tearing through the skull of a large flying Hollow with an upwards scythe strike, propelling her to the air and allowing her to absorb the creature's Reishi in her path. The large, empty park, and the panoramic view of Kagamino surrounding it, unfolded before her.

What was she doing in Japan, anyway? Europe was as chock full of Hollows as always, why drop everything there and go slicing up some on the other side of the globe? That's where the Red Lotus came in. The Fullbringer secret society always has tasks and missions for its members, and one of them involved her having to make the trip to the islands. No different from the time she had to team up with Jesse ( ) to rescue a fresh faced Fullbringer out in San Francisco - it's just that this is on the other side of the Pacific and she was tasked to go on the mission alone.

And so, without anyone to look after her, Val could spend her free time in any way she wanted. Which, to her, could only mean one thing. Going outside, attracting a congregation of Hollows, and going ham on them.

Spinning with her gun-scythe in tow as she tore through the Hollows among the trees, however, Val caught something different. Her senses registered a new signature, one which was distinctly not Hollow, approach the park grounds. Quite a powerful one as well.

There were several possible answers on what that could be, and most of them led either towards a fight or towards getting closer to fulfilling her Red Lotus mission. Val did not hesitate - with the blade of her scythe, she impaled the last of the Hollows around her and tossed it into the sky, and leapt after it. There, over a dozen meters above the park, she grabbed onto the butt end of the scythe and slammed it down at the pavement, right in front of the mysterious signature.

A man. Dark skin, white hair. Doesn't fit the description of the man she was supposed to go after, buuuut...

"Are you from the..." Val muttered, rising to her feet and placing her scythe on her shoulder while the Hollow dissipated. "Yah-koo-zah?"

Oh, what's this?

It only took a few minutes to reach the abandoned park, the Soul Pager he carried offering a surprising degree of accuracy, despite its design that served as a stark contrast to what passed for "cellphones" amongst humans these days. Not that its appearance mattered. Regular humans couldn't see him anyway.

At least, that's what he thought.

Touching down upon the top of a nearby slide in the park's playground area, Yoshinori resorted himself to watching as Valentina carved a path through a gathering of Hollows, that strange Scythe weapon of hers proving to be extremely deadly as it cut through the horde of monsters gathered. The final Hollow that dared bare its creepy mask thing at the woman found itself thrown into the air, before smashed back down to earth, crashing into the dirt with a loud thud, thankfully missing the playground structure by a few feet. After all, kids these days needed some reason to still come out of the house. No need to destroy public property, right?

Nevertheless, the silver haired Shinigami continued to observe, a relaxed expression on his face as he smoked from his kiseru, allowing the golden pipe to leave his lips every few moments to blow out a concentrated stream of smoke into the air. In fact, had Valentina not addressed the man first, one could only theorize that he would have remained there all day without saying a word, content to simply watch her. Unfortunately (for him), she addressed him, and while rather anti-social, Yoshinori wasn't above manners, and offered a small smile to the woman as he leapt off the playground structure, his descent slowing ever so gradually until he touched down softly upon the ground, his black Shihakushō kimono catching air and flowing in the breeze as he touched down.

Never seen a Quincy use that type of weaponry. Tsk.

"Bravo!" Yoshinori praised, complimenting the short statement of praise with soft applause," "Honestly, I never would have thought the day would come where humans would take Hollow hunting into their own hands! Well, again that is. You people never cease to amaze me with your boundless ambition and striking desire to take initiative. I do say, you've done a wonderful job." With an idle hand, Yoshinori extended his hand as if to gesture at the rapidly disintegrating Hollow body parts, golden arm bands well secured against his caramel skin.

"However, there's a process to these things. You see, people like me, come all the way down to the World of the Living to ensure the poor souls that become Hollows are cleansed and returned to their rightful place in the next world. When humans interfere with that process, they destroy souls, instead of saving them...which is actually more of an offense than a help. You see, think of it like your...say your grandmother. Whether alive or dead, imagine if she by some form of way become a Hollow. You would want her saved right? Cleansed and her soul laid to rest in her rightful place, yes? Not destroyed, forever banished into oblivion, yes?"

Retracting his arm, Yoshinori's gaze lazily shifted to look Valentina in her eyes, his hands brought together before disappearing within his wide sleeves.

"I know you're trying to help and everything, but I've come here to ask you specifically to stop. Shinigami deal with Hollows, and we've been doing so for centuries. Leave Hollow work to us. Kay? Good talk. Also, no I'm not from the Yakuza." Yoshinori clapped his hands together once more, as if the two of them had just reached some form of grand agreement.

Now that the high of adrenaline had ceased, Val could get a clearer picture of the person standing in front of her. A man looking about her age, yet with an appearance so out of place that it looked like he wandered in here from a movie set. Complete with a smoking pipe, golden jewelry covering him from head to toe, most striking of them being the golden snake resting upon his neck. That archaic appearance, combined with the sword attached to the man's belt and the particular energy signature emanating off of him, meant that she guessed that she was dealing with a Shinigami even before he introduced himself.

Val listened intently to his speech at first. Then rolled her eyes. Glanced off to the side. Looked over her fingernails. If she had a phone on her, she might have pulled that out, too. The man tried to commend her at first, then, much like Shinigami always do, declared that what she's doing will upset the balance of souls in the world and so she should cease.

"I didn't interrupt you in a vain hope that you might be going somewhere new with this, but now I regret I hadn't," the Fullbringer blurbed out in response. Absent-mindedly, she lifted her scythe off her shoulder and began spinning it in her hand like a weightless toy.

"What do they tell you about this imbalance of souls? Probably not much outside of fearmongering about how it's going to be the end of the world. Yeah. It's the end of the world for you people - 'cause you'll become irrelevant and wither away when that happens. For everyone else, it's freedom from slavery."

Finally, she slammed the butt end of the scythe down to the ground, now holding it like a battle flag. "So. To your request, I answer the same I would answer any other member of your kind. Shove it up your smoke pipe."

Upon the woman's answer, Yoshinori couldn't help but release a small sigh in disappointment. They never listened the first time.

As if sensing Yoshinori's feelings, Hanzō, Yoshi's golden colored snake hissed in his right ear, the serpent coiling ever so loosely around his neck. Lifting his left hand, the Shinigami stroked the snake's head, brown hand running smoothly across the scaly smooth skin. Turning his head to the right, Yoshinori took a few moments to whisper to the snake, seemingly having some form of awkward private moment to comfort the reptile, even though such a creature couldn't hear sound in the traditional sense. Maybe it was some form of special snake? Some form of symbolism? Or perhaps it could just be concluded that the snake's owner was just strange in general. The last conclusion wouldn't be so far off the mark, after all.

Nevertheless, after a moment of hushed speaking, Yoshinori's attention finally turned back to Valentina, as if suddenly remembering she was there in the first place. Left hand dropping back to his side, the limb began to rest idily on the handle of his weapon. This, accompanied by the man's next words, confirmed how this afternoon was going to proceed

"If we're going to be completely honest with each other, I don't want to be here. In fact, I was hoping for once you humans wouldn't be so pig-headed so I could pack up and go home. But alas..." With a flick of his thumb, Yoshinori's Zanpakuto began to pop out of the scabbard, assisted by his right hand, until it was fully drawn, eyes ever looming on Valentina in front of him.

Sealed Ball

Yoshinori's Zanpakuto, even in its sealed form, differed from most other blades in the area in which even its blade gave off a sinister vibe. As far as general appearance of the blade went, it resembled a traditional Japanese Katana, however the blade itself possessed some form of strange engravings, almost ceremonial like in appearance. It was unclear what language such engravings could be in, but it was most certainly not Japanese, nor was it any form of romance language. Besides that weird feature, the only non-standard add on was a small chain protruding from the pommel, acting as some form of decorative tassel. Tip of the blade dipping to face the ground, Yoshinori spoke once more to Valentina, continuing off the lingered thought,

"I have my orders. Please reconsider in the next few moments." With that, Yoshinori would begin to release his Reiatsu in a manner that could be felt, the dark skinned Shinigami closing his eyes, a puff of smoke released from his lips all the while as he prepared himself for battle. He hated going in blind. He was an assassin, special operations...covert operations. He wasn't used to just jumping into a fight without knowing his opponent's capabilities, and having had ample time to develop a counter. Even the setting was inconvenient. Sure, given it was an abandoned and somewhat dilapidated park on the outskirts of the city, getting locals involved was rather unlikely. But it wasn't a stage he picked. It wasn't a place where he had selected hours in advance, waiting for the right opportunity to strike.

He was completely without information. Although that was the point, wasn't it?

This mission was to gather intelligence. Potentially fail this time so the next encounter was tailored to bring about this woman's downfall. Oh, if only things could be different.

Val shifted from barely paying attention to a piqued interest, a sly smirk formed on the woman's face when the Shinigami displayed her a very simple demand. Either she changes her mind, or else - and as soon as the man drew his sword, it became clear that he wasn't going to stand down without a fight. The Fullbringer did not acquit, however - instead, she placed the scythe in both of her hands, pulling against the weapon's compartments until she popped open a chamber and a cartridge flew out.

"Don't tell me you don't want to be here. You have as much of an option to quit as me - no matter what orders supposedly hold you back," Val stated simply. An another cartridge, materialized by her Fullbring, popped to reality in her hand and she slid it open in the chamber, locking and loading. "And yet, you have chosen to stay. Fine. I will put up as good of a show as I possibly can."

Val followed her speech by suddenly breaking her battle stance and making a playful curtsy instead.

And then, she struck.

The Fullbringer swung her scythe across the air, suddenly opening fire with a hail of shard-like projectiles from the weapon. They were not strong enough to kill, but the speed and sharpness with which they came meant that they'd be able to dig under their victim's skin, soften their tissue, and leave agonizing wounds.

This certainly isn't good.

Yoshinori wasn't quite expecting the expulsion of Reiatsu from Valentina that he ended up getting, the amount of spiritual presence the Fullbringer was exuding off of her was beyond any type of prediction the Shinigami could have made. He had never, in all his years of service, encountered a human being capable of such strength. A Shinigami, sure. But not a human.

It was a good thing he was here.

As Valentina released the sharp shards from her weapon, Yoshinori adopted a swift defensive stance, Zanpakuto in hand as he moved to deflect several shards from piercing into his flesh, the silver haired man proving quite swift when it came to swordplay, especially defensive swordplay. Yet, as quick as he was, the shards coming at him were faster, and with a jolt of pain in his left shoulder, he felt a shard tear through his Shihakushō, biting and tearing through the flesh beneath, before flying past him, a generous trail of blood flowing from the man's shoulder.

"Gah!" Yoshinori exclaimed before suddenly vanishing from sight, utilizing Shunpo to create swiftly exit the range of the shard attack. For about several seconds, all was silent within the park, before Yoshinori suddenly reappeared, his left hand gripping some form of jungle gym structure on the west side of the park.

Above average Reiatsu. Scythe like weapon that releases sharp black shards capable of easily cutting through a Shinigami's defenses. Noted.

Holding out his weapon, Yoshinori closed his eyes before uttering a single command.

"Deceive, Dōsojin"

Sealed Ball

Taking a deep draw from his kiseru pipe, Yoshinori exhaled a long plume of smoke over his Zanpakuto as his reiatsu exploded outwards once more, his presence becoming ever more noticeable as his initiated his Shikai release. The smoke soon dissipated to reveal that the Shinigami now wielded two identical hook blades instead of a single Katana, the strange engravings upon the weapon gone in favor of a more traditional steel appearance, the hooked ends of the blade ending with a sharp edge.

Not daring to waste another moment, the Shinigami vanished once more, using Shunpo to close the gap between himself and Valentina, this time positioning himself in the air above the woman. However, he did not close in for a melee attack, which may have been expected. Instead, he took yet another long inhale from his kiseru pipe before expelling yet another plume of smoke. Except this time, there seemed to be a greater volume of smoke emerging from his lips, which seemed intent on closing in around the Fullbringer.

Sealed Ball

Once released from his body, tendrils of wispy smoke would seek to latch onto Valentina, with intent to seep into her body through any means possible. The strange smoke, which judging by the color of the smoke being tinged slightly purple, could be assumed to be something other than tobacco smoke, would rush to seep into her skin, invade her nostrils or even enter through her mouth. If there was any form of opening that the seemingly intelligent smoke could seize to enter her body, it would be taken. Yoshinori's Zanpakuto, Dōsojin, was a Poison Type Zanpakuto specialized in administering a toxin that he colloquially referred to as "Soul Virus". While not a viral agent at all, the toxin, once taken into the body by any means, would begin to gradually attack and eat away at the unfortunate victim from the inside. Once the airborne deed was done, Yoshinori would land just on the outskirts of the large smoke cloud, crossing his weapons over himself in an X formation.

"Even my harshest estimates couldn't have accounted for the way this has been going so far.." Yoshinori mused, as if entertained by the whole ordeal.

(Chocolate Girl)

Almost immediately after being fired upon, the Shinigami backed away and vanished, leaving Val alone in the battlefield. The Fullbringer did not hold any illusion that this was the end, however - she wanted to give the man some benefit of the doubt and assume that he wasn't so cowardly as to flee after a single hit. And yet, for a little bit, the scene was dead quiet. Holding her weapon in both hands, Val made one step, then another, sometimes glancing across the trees, and always focusing on her sixth sense.

Then, a burst of power, all manifesting in a single Reiryoku signature, caught her attention. The Shinigami had awakened all of his latent power, revealing his presence, and charged straight at her.

For a second, Val, surprised at the boldness, struck a smirk and raised her weapon defensively. After all, a reckless opponent is going to be all the more fun to deal with. Instead of a strike, however, the Fullbringer received a powerful gust of smoke straight into her body. Immediately, the woman stepped back and crossed her arms, but at that point, it was too late - the smoke circled around her, eating into her skin, and giving her frustrating memories of the last time she fought a Shinigami and had that Shinigami burn her with field hazards ( ). Maybe that should serve as a wake-up call to take precautions...

And, of course, the Shinigami grumbled about this not going the way he expected while she was struggling against a coughing fit.

"Was that supposed to be a complaint or confidence..."

If he can blitz around and catch her unawares, then what says she cannot pull the same. Activating a push of Bringer Light underneath her feet, Val flew forth, zipping around the battlefield like a pinball, until she finally sent a lighting fast elbow jab at the Shinigami's back, stopping behind him back-to-back. Casually, she stepped back, leaned her head onto his shoulder and muttered:

"Wanna see something cool?"

She didn't wait for an answer. The ground underneath Val suddenly ripped open and the scythe in her hand burst, engulfing its wielder in a massive Fullbring which grew several meters tall and swiftly assumed a humanoid shape. It generated plating, heavy armor and weaponry in a matter of seconds, taking the form of a massive robot, crafted itself a massive replica of the previous gun-scythe, and spread a set of electrified butterfly wings from its back.

Inside the robot, seated within its torso, Val grinned and began playing with the buttons of the massive control panel surrounding her. The colossal machine transformed its left arm into an autocannon, aimed it at the Shinigami below and opened fire.

Humans are more capable than I thought. How enlightening.

Despite the extreme inconvenience that this mission brought him, Yoshinori was somewhat glad that he was assigned this task. Both because every shred of new information he gleaned from this woman could be later converted into a goldmine of opportunity to which could be exploited, if not by himself than by some other bigwig seated officer who took it upon themselves to clean up the mess that was the World of the Living, but also because this was already a much better workout than his daily routine back at the Detention Unit. A man's gotta stay fit somehow, right?

Bam!

Yoshinori lurched forward as he felt Valentina's arm smash into his back. Gritting his teeth at the unexpected flare of pain, Yoshinori didn't initially move to distance himself from the woman, feeling her lean her head against his shoulder in some form of strange gesture of....could you even call it affection? Teasing? Something that certainly wasn't the norm for a fight. Yet, Yoshinori rolled with it, taking the short respite to exhale a puff of smoke

"You know something? I like you. You got spirit." Yoshinori commented in short response to Valentina before the woman displayed the "cool" thing that she was referring to, her form encased in a robotic Goliath, prompting the silver haired Shinigami to turn around to face the newly formed Fulllbring, a puff of smoke expelled from his kiseru as he marveled at the size of the thing

"It's big." Yoshinori commented, his face kept rather neutral throughout, the only showcase of reaction upon his countenance being yet another expulsion to smoke from his kiseru. Did that damned thing ever run out of tobacco to smoke?

As Valentina opened fire on him, Yoshinori burst into action of his own, crossing his hands in an X formation over his own form, the bullets tearing through his robes but failing to puncture his skin, the Shinigami allowing himself to bear the brunt of the automated fire for a few moments before he vanished once more, executing Shunpo. Appearing once more, Yoshinori could be seen rapidly scaling the right arm of the robot, both hook blades held trailing behind him until he reached the shoulder, in which the man would leap into the air towards the cockpit where Valentina was. Both blades held aloft, Yoshinori would bring them down in a swift vertical motion down upon the woman.

Sliding and flying through the auto-cannon fire, the Shinigami hopped onto the colossus's arm and began to reenact what, in Val's mind, was one of the coolest moments of any giant monster battle in fiction. Just... jumping onto its arm, running on it like a madman, weaving out of the way of any incoming attacks as the monster desperately, and foolishly, tries to shake the attacker off... It's a shame that she happens to be on the receiving end of the moment, though.

As soon as the Shinigami appeared before the cockpit, in Val's plain sight, the butterfly wings of the machine suddenly folded around it, serving as a shield to block both of the incoming strikes. Immediately upon contact, they would release a bolt of electricity across the blades, aiming to shock their wielder. Not only that, but several hidden cannons appeared from within the wings, each one unleashing a barrage of needles at the Shinigami - tiny and sharp, they served the same role as the shards from earlier, to wound and make bleed, not to kill.

"Well that was kinda rude. You're supposed to first wear down the giant monster, not immediately go for the dramatic run up its arm and finish in its eyes," Val complained under her breath, wondering which button to press next and finally settling on a lever at the side. The colossus lifted its left hand and stuck out its finger - a beam of pure bright Reishi shot out from the tip, with which the machine slashed across the air twice. First with a wide horizontal swing, then a powerful descending finish.

Keeping up was getting tougher. Despite it's large size, Valentina's robot Fullbring was rather quick, and before Yoshinori could even get a blow in to the pilot at the cockpit, the damned thing's butterfly wings got in the way, blocking the blow and sending a burst of technology across the metal of Yoshinori's Zanpakuto, in an effort to shock him. However, the electric shock dissipated before it could fully reach his skin, the shock dispelled by Yoshi's Reiatsu. However, that's about as far as his Reiatsu could protect him for the moment, for a second later Valentina revealed hidden cannons alongside the shoulder, firing off several rounds of sharp projectiles that hurled across air. Given how close Yoshinori was to the firing zone, the silver haired Shinigami couldn't help but grimace as several shards shredded through his skin, drawing blood and causing him to rear back to create distance, walking across air as he shifted his hook blades in defensive guards across his body in an effort to deflect the shards.

Of course, that's when the next attack came rushing in.

Letting out a loud grunt of pain, Yoshinori felt a sharp pain in his abdomen as Valentina's robot slashed across the air horizontally with the Reishi Blade. Blood ran down his abdomen and onto his leg in rivulets from the entry point, yet despite the serious looking injury, Yoshinori's figure blinked away as the vertical slash came down, the robot's Reishi beam meeting nothing but empty air.

"Hidden weapons within the compartment of the damned giant robot. Expected feature, but hard to predict nonetheless. Noted."
Yoshinori commented, more talking to himself than Valentina by this point, when he reappeared several yards away. His abdomen was bleeding profusely with little signs of stopping, but in regards to Yoshinori's reaction to the pain, it was probably mild at best. It got the man to stop smoking, absolutely, for his kiseru vanished into a flurry of blue shards, disintegrating in air by Yoshinori's own making. Now, instead of a seemingly disinterested expression, there was a slight grimace of discomfort as pain wracked his body.

Holding his hook blades over his head, Yoshinori then let go of the handles, allowing the blades to freely hover in thin air above him, the man himself clasping his hands together, as if in prayer. Closing his eyes, he...just stood there. He made no move to advance. He simply stood there. Recuperating, maybe? Praying? Doing some tribal ritual? One could only guess.

The Shinigami's offensive turned out to have been a dud. All it took for Val was to swipe at her opponent with a blade of Reishi and he was forced to retreat, reappearing some distance away. He was already wounded and struggled to cope with the damage of the attacks, to the point where he just... stood there. Not retaliating, not casting a some sort of spell to turn the tide, just...

Val squinted at the camera display of her opponent's stance inside her cockpit, not sure what to make of it.

"...praying," she mumbled under her breath. "Either that, or I accidentally blasted him so hard that I put him to sleep."

How does that even work?.. Whatever may be the reason for the Shinigami's passivity, Val was not going to tolerate slackers in her battlefield. And if he's preparing a some sort of super powerful attack, then hey, it's his fault that it apparently has the charge time of a snail! The Fullbringer swiped across the control panel with her hand, hitting no less than twenty buttons in her way. Just as many rocket launchers, miniguns, and Reishi bullet blasters unloaded themselves from the colossus's arms, shoulders and chest, every single one locking onto the Shinigami and firing away.

Watching the air before her machine turn into concentrated smoke and gunpowder, Val began laughing, maniacally.

Dōsojin, out of all the damn types you had to be, you had to be a damned poison-type Zanpakuto? What I would GIVE for a lightning bolt from the heavens that instantly incinerates people, or some gale force winds to blow people across the skies. I WISH I had that right now. But no, I get fucking Hook Blades with a toxin that apparently takes twenty years to take ample effect. Fuck you, Dōsojin. And fuck you too, Soul Virus.

That was Yoshinori's "prayer". However, of course he didn't take a moment's respite simply to mentally cuss out his Zanpakuto. No, there was a method to the madness. Taking short and quick breaths, Yoshi moved to revitalize his body, the pain in his abdomen throbbing as he felt the pain of his wound. Despite his still stance and intense concentration on his breathing exercise, as well as his own body, Yoshinori still remained acutely aware of his surroundings. He was well aware of Valentina either taking one of two scenarios:

A. She took his passivity as an opportunity, and thus took the chance to attack him with all she had.

Or B. She remained ever so cautious, and halted her attack too in order to bait Yoshinori to attack first.

Thankfully, it seemed Option A was the winner! Clicks sounded across his auditory senses, followed by the roar of fired projectiles upon his form. Despite this, Yoshinori remained still, forcing discipline upon instinct. It wasn't until the last moment that Yoshinori applied Reiryoku to his feet to enhance his speed, executing Shunpo to vanish from sight, clearing the projectile barrage set upon him and sliding off to the side.

Maintaining this enhanced speed, Yoshinori would position himself back alongside the shoulder of the behemoth once more marveling at the scale of destruction that Valentina unleashed upon where he was previously. Yet, instead of commenting, Yoshinori snapped into action, no longer in a position for idle discussion before attacks. Placing both hands outward, positioned at the head of the robot where Valentina commanded the monstrosity, Yoshinori would begin to concentrate, forming a volleyball sized red colored orb of Reiryoku just outside the palm of his hands, which he would then fire at his opponent, before producing a second orb, which he would then fire once more!

(Chocolate Girl)

As Val's laughing ceased, the girl witnessed that neither of her verbal guesses was correct. The Shinigami was indeed preparing an attack all along - the patch of land he had been standing in was now flattened and turned into an inferno of explosions and fire. Thankfully, nobody was here to scream in terror and call the police, that would make the whole battle... ten times more complicated.

The Shinigami did not vanish from Val's sight, however - or, more accurately, from her senses. Locking onto his Reiryoku signature, the head of the giant turned, making almost a 180 degree turn with no issue, and registered an incoming Reishi blast. First one, then another.

They were certainly fast, and could do some damage if they struck the right place in the machine's chassis. Both of them, however, were suddenly cut through by a blinding fast scythe, they were cleaved in half instantly and crashed to the ground in front of the colossus.

"Clearly, I overestimated my Fullbring's narcoleptic powers..." Val muttered under her breath and pulled her hand into a glove controller placed on her control panel, raising it immediately. The colossus's arm followed its wielder's movements perfectly.

The blade of the scythe began to split, dividing itself into several pieces, each one connected by a chain - turning the weapon into a chain of deadly, gigantic blades. Which Val promptly swung with one hand and descended towards the Shinigami like a powerful whip.

It seemed ranged Kido Spells only served to meet a similar fate to when he attempted melee Zanjutsu strikes. That is, it only ended up in failure. Yoshinori was quickly running out of options offensively. This woman...whoever she was, had provided him much to work with. Despite himself, he was beginning to joy himself a bit. Not the fighting aspect. That part could go to hell considering how badly he had been injured thus far. But the adrenaline of shifting strategies against a stronger foe? Of being the one to evaluate one's combat potential instead of the one acting off intel already gathered? It was a hard position. An uncomfortable position. Something well out of what Yoshinori was accustomed to. He was the live bait sent out to either live and gather intelligence, or die on the battlefield.

It was exhilarating.

As Val's scythe began to splinter apart into a chain of absolute death, Yoshinori's eyes narrowed ever so slightly as he began to time his evasive action. As the whip tore through air to attack him, Yoshinori's figure flickered before vanishing once more, the Shinigami once more timing the use of Shunpo right before contact could be established, allowing the man to just barely escape the blade whip. If anything, it was certainly confirmed that Yoshinori was a wily one to wrangle down. After a moment's pause, Yoshinori reappeared several meters away, exhaling a pent up breath, his eyes riveted on Valentina. However, once again the man made no move to attack his foe. But why? Why purposely resort to being on the defensive? If Yoshinori did have a plan, he didn't seem all that intent on sharing, nor did he seem all that eager to enact it.

Was this how the battle was going to go? A series of failed attacks on Yoshi's part, accompanied by a game of who could outlast the other? Or was there some method to this drawn out madness? Regardless of what could possible be going on inside the silver haired Shinigami's head, Yoshinori seemed intent to continue the fight against the Fullbringer, his Reiatsu sparking back up to life as he began to prepare himself for Val's next move.
