Well, no reason to bring the mood down now. The ride back was fairly pleasant, and Yukari's father was kind enough to inform her about the little impromptu paranormal investigator they'd hired. Hanako was a bit worried at that. But as it'd already been established, she's a good actor. This once she entered the house and laid eyes on the unknown woman on the table, she walked up and greeted her. "Hello, I am Ryo Kaede. You can just call me Kaede though. Are you perhaps another guest of this esteemed family?" Yeah, a good actor indeed 

At the Main farm house

“Aloha kakahiaka.” Miki Aihara smiled as Diana descended the stairs, “Please take a seat at the dining table, a traditional hawai’ian breakfast will delight your taste buds this morning, would you like iced green tea or coffee?”

At this precise moment Kaede Ryo entered with Haku Aihara closely behind, he removing his gloves while he removed his shoes at the stone entrance, taking his time to adjust Kaede’s shoes who left hers strewn haphazardly, and he greeted his wife again with a kiss on the cheek. A pitcher of green iced tea was poured into a cup which he drank in one gulp, despite the humid weather he wore a linen outfit specifically for work, and joined Diana and Kaede at the long booth style table surrounded by washi paper screen sliding windows. There was enough room for up to seven people, three on each side of cushioned seating, and a single person at the very end which is where he sat, assuming his wife would sit next to him, followed by their daughter at the very end.

“Is Yukari still with our guest?” Haku raised a brow, he had been gone less than ten minutes, the trip was short since there was absolutely no traffic on the weekend, since he picked up Kaede from the Hospital who was waiting outside the building when he arrived. It was plenty of time for Yukari to serve breakfast and clean the guest’s room.

“I suppose I will change her meal to a rice burger and bring it to her. Our guest is a foreigner after all.” Miki explained after she placed four of the trays on the dining table, two at a time, and brought over two pitchers of iced tea and coffee for everyone to serve themselves; with the cups already on the table as well as the cutlery.

The tray with Yukari’s meal was turned into a rice burger, wrapped in wax paper, with egg and ground meat in the middle with a fresh piece of lettuce from the farm. The iced tea was poured into a metal thermos, and Miki walked out of the farm house to place the items on top of small tray at the stone entrance.

“Yukari, I am placing your breakfast here on the foyer, rejoin us when you can.” Miki called out then left immediately to join everyone for breakfast.

At the third farmhouse.

“Przyjaciel?” Yukari repeated with difficulty, curious about the meaning, but was quick to do as instructed in placing the food tray on the low table carefully, she lowered herself down to her knees prepare the table with cutlery out of her dress pocket, and motioned over to the mini fridge in the room, which had water bottles stored inside, she opened one up and pour into a cup at the table.

With the breakfast table made up, she stood back up to fold the futon at the end of the room, and stood in front of the wooden armoire. The tan teenager opened a double door armoire, storing the futon, removing a few items from the built in dresser drawers, and placed a floor cushion near Iwan since he was sitting on the tatami mat without one.


The platinum blonde teenager moved rather quickly about the room, collecting the waste bin by tying up the trash bag, and replacing it with a new one which was conveniently stored in the same container, and proceeded to gather the ruined clothes into a laundry bag she pulled out of the armoire. Golden hazel eyes looked at the dry blood on the cloth which had turned brown, she figured her mother thought it was mud, and overlooked that it was blood upon meeting him the day prior.

“Would you like to have this laundered?” Yukari was hugging the mesh bag with Iwan’s winter clothes in her arms and lowered herself to sit on tatami mat flooring to meet his eye level, “Pokuta? My father has a workshop, is the solution used for the maintenance of a sword the same...for your rifle?”

Yukari reached over to pick up one of the tri fold pamphlets, one specifically for the Aihara Estate, which had a local map of the island, she pointed at their current location then shifted her finger to a present icon which was located on Kapoho bay, “There is a gift shop here with a wide selection as well as other shops.” Her finger then motioned over to the west side of the island, “You can rent our car and go to the gun shop here on the other side of the island...granted that you’re licensed, Iwan-san?”

The sound of her mother’s voice echoed into the house regarding her breakfast, she nodded her head in that the direction briefly, and then turned to watch Iwan check the chamber of his rifle.

“Is there anything else, I can help you with, Iwan-san?”

This whole time she had constantly been thinking about Iwan and Hanako, she nearly sprained her ankle during her advanced fitness class at the Academy while stretching on the track, and Diana noticed it immediately by passing it off as being embarrassed of being seen by her crush in her clumsiness. Her concerns were more specifically on what it meant to the neighborhood to have their kind among fullbringers. It made her nervous that the Red Lotus would be further involved for harboring an Arrancar and a Quincy at the Aihara estate; whether or not Diana had the foresight to identify either of them as soon as they crossed paths.

Haku Aihara was a fullbringer and he did not notice anything unusual about either of their new arrivals, either because he was losing touch with his abilities, or he was quite in-tune with being able to read their souls as neutral or good alignment. Yukari pressed her lips together, closing her eyes to take a deep breath before opening them again, clutching the laundry nervously, and proceeded to wait patiently for the Quincy to answer.

An attentive person would notice that for a second that her eyes reflected a malevolent look and the smile were more akin to a slasher who would rip you into seventeen pieces as happy as a child devour candy in a candy store. But the look disappeared as soon as it come, which made one wonder if it was just trick of the light.

"It's very nice to meet you Kaede. Diana Chase...Diana is my first name. Pleased to meet you."

Their greeting was interrupted when her phone suddenly rang to which she hold it and look at the screen, one can see the name Dante on display. Her lips pursed slightly before she turned to Miki.

"I'll join you in a bit Ma'am, I have to take this phone call. Go ahead and have breakfast ahead of us Kaede."

With that she would walk away from the others to be in private before answering her phone.

"What is it?"

"One of our colleagues in Honolulu just sensed a huge rift near where you are."

"This better be good. I'm not interested in hunting small fries."

"Remember Devil's Acre?"

"Vividly."

"The rift suggest something like that, maybe even bigger."

There was no mistaking the gleeful look on her face, it was as if her Birthday, Halloween and Christmas come all at once.

"Perfect. I'll be there as soon as possible. Oh and..."

"Yes?"

"Look into Kaede Ryo for me."

"Copy that. Good hunting."

She immediately hung up soon after before making her way towards the breakfast table wherer she presumed the others are waiting.

"I'm sorry, there's an urgent matter I have to attend to. I'll be right back as soon as I can."

Without waiting for their response, she immediately rushed up to her room to grab her things.

At the Main farm house

Miki Aihara poured iced coffee for Diana into a cup while she answered her personal call, she took a seat next to her husband to begin eating, motioning for Kaede to sit next to her at the table which was declined because she was still slightly recovering despite being discharged from the hospital and she decided to go for a walk instead.

“Young people who do not eat well while their bodies are still developing will suffer the consequences when they become adults.” Haku grumbled, of course he did not have the slightest clue that both Diana and “Kaede” were already adult women who were both passing on as teenagers at the Academy. The Soma clan specifically told Yukari’s parents that they would be investigating the incident as well as allowing Diana Chase to stay at the estate in case their daughter was in any danger. As a minor clan they did exactly as the Soma Clan instructed without question due to their supernatural fullbring abilities. "Is the meeting with the Soma Clan elders still taking place this afternoon? Please do not be late."

While it was true that Diana was researching the menos grande occurrence, Haku never informed Hanako that she was from Red Lotus, no one knew that piece of information except for Yukari and the Soma clan who hired her.

“That’s exactly what I told you when you dropped out of the Academy to work on the farm at sixteen. I practically had to force feed you while you were tilling the field.” Miki nodded her head as she took another bite of her meal.

At the third farm house

Yukari smiled at the prospect of Iwan being her friend, especially since she nearly injured him in the darkest moment of her life when she allowed herself to be irrational because she felt cornered, even going as far as threatening him so that he would leave her sight, and in the end she asked for his forgiveness which he did not reply to but he he must have forgave her enough to call her a friend in his native tongue. It was impressive that he knew the native language of Hawai'i by comparing it to his own when he clarified his statement. Especially since they both risked their lives together yesterday to solidify that final truth.

While Diana requested to be treated like a friend, being told they were a friend was something else entirely; the red lotus member was simply doing her job, despite sharing a few personal truths, it was not enough for Yukari to tell her exactly everything in the finest of details because it was not part of the investigation; their relationship was strictly business in comparison. Of course, these half truths were minutes from being revealed, much to Yukari’s naivete.

It seemed that it was possible for Iwan not to venture so far, if everything he needed was readily available at her father’s workshop, and she nodded in agreement. “I will let him know you desire to maintain your rifle. I am certain he would not take issue with it and you can use it freely. It is the cornerstone building located near the west gated entrance.”

Yukari offered a shaka hand sign at Iwan after he dismissed additional assistance, she took the bag of trash, and the ruined winter clothes with her, sliding the screen door to close behind her to secure his privacy. The items were dropped off on the stone steps outside the farmhouse, she picked up the tray of food her mother made, and sat down on a flat tree stump outside to eat her breakfast. In that time she noticed Hanako walking across the field then faded away into a translucent form for a running start off the property headed in a certain location.

A familiar sound of ocean waves began to echo, followed by thunder, and lightning. Yukari peered at the sunlit cloudless sky in wonder as she drank her iced green tea and finished her breakfast. With a shrug, she carried the trash, and the remnants of Iwan’s clothes to the dumpster which was actually next to the workshop building across the field. On her way back she picked up her dishes and returned to the main farm house. Her parents alone at the dining table with the food that was prepared for Diana and Hanako left untouched.

“Heh, perhaps they needed their breakfast made into rice burgers, as well.” Yukari commented and turned to her father, “Our guest would like to use your workshop to perform maintenance on his rifle. I assumed you would say yes so I went ahead and gave him permission, father.”

“You did well, I am certain there is something that could be of use, not sure what kind of rifle it is, but I do store gunpowder as an insecticide.” Haku continued to finish his breakfast until he stopped to notice the strange phenomenon that was only detectable by people with spiritual awareness, “What is that?”

The figures Iwan, Diana, and Hanako detected ,before the Aihara’s were able to, belonged to menos grande alright, but it was different from the one that appeared Thursday night. The menos grande were not the traditional black embodiment of consumed souls, these were special, all of them glowed an eerie dark blue, nearly translucent, and they all had one thing in common: they were all lonely as a direct result of consuming souls of people who drowned in the entire pacific ocean; a combination of hollows and pluses that a shinigami was unable to save for soul society. It was a lonely existence to die alone in the depths of the ocean, whether by accident or not, the strong Reiryoku from the neighborhood of fullbringers enticed them to venture to the island collectively.

“I thought it was a storm at first but there isn’t a single cloud in the sky outside.” Yukari replied before ascending the stairs hearing Diana rustling in her room when she walked past her closed door and entered her own bedroom which was directly above the front entrance. It was then that her hazel eyes saw the figures getting closer to the property through her open bedroom window, the black inter-dimensional tear by their claws allowed nearly half their bodies to step out into the land of the living. The platinum blonde teen gasped at the sight, she was absolutely terrified as she witnessed not one menos grande but an entire herd, and the spiritual pressure was so immense she thought she would burst. Is that where Hanako was rushing off to while everyone remained on the farm? Did she summon those beings that were threatening to consume more souls? It was difficult for a sixteen year old to enact a plan, she had no experience in dealing with this type of situation, and if Hanako was made an ally in exchange for letting Iwan live then she was the only person present that would be able to rectify this problem.

Yukari rushed to change out of her maid outfit, changing into the ones specifically crafted to resist the spark that ignited her flames of reishi, who everyone except Diana had seen her wear before. Putting on her black designer okobo boots, she skipped several steps down the wooden stairs to the first floor in a rush, with her odachi blade gripped tightly in hand.

“Father, something is coming, take mother and hide!”

Yukari slid open the main door, she released a bit of her reishi to aid her in leaping across the farm to catch up with Hanako tailing closely behind.

“What’s going on--” Yukari asked Hanako seconds before she was swept up by one of them, the entire herd was trying to rush through the same opened portal preventing each other from coming through at the same time, and the tan teenage girl was brought inside garganta. The struggling menos grande pulled back into the void to see her land into their realm. There was only a matter of seconds to plan ahead, until Yukari took a single step back, falling into a small invisible hole that sealed up when her entire form was engulfed into the Dangai.

Yukari heard Iwan form a plan outside the temporal portal opened to Garganta, Hanako instead went inside with the menos grande following closely after her, and they all seemed to freeze in place suddenly ignoring the shots from Pokuta which severed limbs, but it was not nearly enough damage to prevent the hollow’s regeneration. The silver haired woman that appeared among them seemed to be regaining control of the herd by drawing their attention which was focused on the mysterious arrancar.

The sound of Diana screaming her name snapped Yukari's hazel eyes away for a second until everything went dark. An anomaly between Hueco Mundo opened by the arrancar, the world of the living opened by the menos grande, and Garganta pulled Yukari into the Dangai through a hole below her boots which was sealed away after she fell through it.

The walls of slime like flesh were instantly disturbing for a second as Yukari recollected her thoughts, whether it was her own will power, or sheer luck she was able to avoid the entire situation she found herself in between the menos grande of devoured drowned souls and a mysterious arrancar. However, her opportunity to secure her own safety was deliberately narrowing in on her. The walls were closing in, a temporary path that led to a single direction towards soul society, and she had no choice but to run with all her might to the only outlet.

At the Main Farm House

It is in the womb when a minor clan discovers the potential future of a fullbringer offspring, Yukari’s Reiryoku had been sensed by Haku Aihara ever since before she was even born, and no matter how many islands he traveled he could always sense her living soul. Yukari’s reiryoku signature was still detectable through the opened portal between the living realm and garganta, which suddenly disappeared like an extinguished flame on a candle, anyone who was closely familiar with it would have sensed she was gone.

“What’s the matter?” Miki Aihara shook her husband.

“I can’t sense, Yukari.” Haku answered rather stunned, “I have the strange feeling she simply left the Pacific Ocean just now, nearly on my own personal instinct, but I am not sure what it is. It could be the doubt I am feeling that my daughter is gone but it was too sudden to be dying Reiryoku signature reading. I sensed it before when Yukari’s grandfather died. This is different. Yukari is just not here.”
